Out of state buying & shipping
Like every one else I’m in the long run for a Camaro
I put an order in nine months ago no allocation I have a second order that’s been in for five months no allocation I put a third order in two weeks ago and a fourth order in today all at different dealers. I started looking at Chevy with a 2000 mile radius from my ZIP Code to find a build that’s like mine i’ve never bought out of state I’ve never shipped any car to me so any body that has done this with any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

I purchased my 1LE from out of state. I was in the same position as you. I ordered a Camaro from a local dealer, but after months of waiting with no allocation I started looking for a car similar to what I ordered that was in transit. My car had been pre-ordered, but the buyer decided to go another direction so I put down a deposit and purchased the car. The dealership I purchased my car from was 6 hours away. I was going to have it shipped to me, but I was having a hard time finding a shipper who could pick it up in a reasonable amount of time so my son and I decided to go get it.
I've had two previous cars that I purchased from out of state shipped to me. I had good experiences both times. Both with the dealership and the shipper. People buy cars from other states all the time. I wouldn't let that stop you if you find the right car.

I have bought out of state and driven home. With my 1LE it was only like 200 miles so it wasn't too bad. So, what is stopping you from buying the car, flying out there and driving it back? Unless you want to get it home and PPF/ Ceramic coating, which is understandable. Or you don't want to put the miles on the car if you are just driving it straight home. If you have the means to do so, I would highly suggest you take some time off to go get your car and enjoy the ride home. You could take some rock guards with you, install at the dealership and some track wrap for the front and impact areas. If you do want to ship it, you could just get some quotes from shipping companies. I would be more worried about it being on a trailer than driving it the distance home. I've also had a bad experience trying to ship a car so I'm biased towards not going that route. Good luck trying to find a car and hopefully it's something close to you!

I shipped my ZLE from Indiana to New York. Highly recommend AirRyd.com for auto transport. I had a much easier time working with them after having issues with 2 bigger named transport brokers.
The owner of the company has a YouTube channel called Auto Transport for Dummies. Definitely worth checking out and should give you some more answers

Last April, after a long, frustrating and familiar story to many here I ended up buying my 1LT from a dealership near Denver and had it shipped to my door here in Tucson. I wasn't willing to take a chance on running into a spring blizzard in CO so flying and driving home wasn't an option.
The whole process went off without a hitch. Dealership was much more professional than the Phoenix area ones(no dealer markup, no $699 doc fee) and knew the ins and outs of out of state purchases. I used a company called Webster Hauling and specified an enclosed trailer. Car showed up in a new single car enclosed trailer towed by a new one ton Dodge truck. They were delayed by a massive dust storm in NM so the enclosed trailer was a savior to my paint job. Shipping cost $1500. After taking into account the $2000 markup that the Phoenix dealer wanted I ended up SAVING $500 including the shipping cost. I am a happy camper. |

My story started in November '22. I waited 3 months after ordering my LT-1 from my local dealer, but then started searching around the country when I was still stuck at 1100 status (no allocation) in February. Found one I wanted in Michigan, and started the online buying process. Bowman Chevrolet was straight MSRP, minus rebates, and was honoring all employee/supplier discounts if you qualified. They had a car (dealer stock order) I wanted in 3400 status, so I put down a $500 deposit by phone.
My car was built on Feb 10, '22, and arrived at the dealer on the 17th. They are only an hour from the Lansing factory so it got there fast. I completed the purchase online from Bowman, no bullshit, no upsell, exactly what we agreed on, MSRP minus rebates, plus tax and a $230 doc fee. Even got the special rate on financing 1.9% for 72 months with GM Financial. I used PLYCAR to pick up the car on an enclosed truck. It cost about $1,300, but all the dealerships near me had a $2,500-5K markup on the Camaros, so I still came out a bit ahead. The only hiccup I had was they forgot to put the temporary plate on the car, but my salesman sent it UPS next-day air. It was the best experience I've ever had buying a car.

I was lucky to find a local dealership which sells a lot of ZL1 models. I wouldn't sit waiting for an allocation to pop depending on the model you are looking to order. Trenary in STL has 6 LT1 verts in stock. The 4 ZL1s in transit are already sold.

Thank you everyone my specific order is 2ss 1Le shadow gray metallic.
I can’t find a build like that right now but I do see more ZL1 builds that I’m starting to watch just not ready to pull the trigger on a ZL1 but if I can’t get my order I guess I’ll have to upgrade. |

I brought mines out of state also but it was only 1 state away. I was able to go up get a trailer and bring it back home. Same situation as you ordered and waited 7 months and found what I wanted online one night. They had just got it in and posted the pictures and I saw them 1 hour after they posted. Was up there the next day. If you find what you ware looking for you have to be fast. No matter what the sales numbers look like (compared to Dodge and Fords) they are going as soon as they hit the lot.

I flew in to Detroit from Kansas City and took delivery of my 23. I had bank checks in hand. Took delivery and signed forms, spent the night and then hit the road the next morning. Dealer used a service that titled and tagged the car for me, I got plates and registration in the mail. I don't recommend the dealer I used but just telling you about the process.
