Trade 22 ZL1 for a new 23 Corvette?
Thinking of trading my ZL1 for a new C-8, pros and cons?

Main things are: Getting a good trade in on your ZL1 and are you paying MSRP or less on the Vette and please don't get that God awful red interior.

Go for it David if you really want a C8! You only live once you know but I would keep the Vivid Orange ZL1 if it was me. The Camaro as we know it is coming to the end of its life cycle in a year or so and the Corvette will be around basically in its current state for a few years which might increase the value of the ZL1 when production stops. The C8 is a great Corvette in my opinion but I’m not a Corvette person and prefer the ZL1 Camaro. Good luck and you do what’s best for you!

Looks like you're kind of a Corvette guy from the history in your sig. I've personally owned 8 Corvettes. 1969 to 2016 Z06 convertible. Personally, I haven't warmed up to the C8. My ZL1 is kind of a C7 Corvette in many ways. I'm happy with that.

I love the C8.
The downside she could use a bit more tq for that weight class and a six piston option would be nice... |

Good words guys.
No Red Interior, lol My Neighbor just got a new C-8, paid 10k over MSRP. I rode in it and it was very nice. My wife likes them more, She wont drive the ZL1. She said she would drive the Vette. I can get one at MSRP if I order it.

I see on U-tube C-8 running low 11's, But I have roll raced a couple for fun and they were or seemed slow. I think my Zl1 is a good one, I have a good friend that has a 2018 Hellcat, and when I give him a car head start from 40 I can easily overtake him.

Was going to mention this, unless you’re constantly launching the car, the Zl1 is definitely the faster car when doing empty highway pulls and will shove you in your seat more.

My local dealer had orders for over 30 C8’s, but said they would only get 6 C8 allocations this year. If you have found a dealer with unused allocations, you are good to go.

C8 zo6 for sure. But a c8 stingray is more of a car for cruising and style. The zl1 is more exciting to drive, more aggressive, better on the track, faster, and somewhat roomy! Plus more mod compatible for the zl1. ZL1 ALL DAY

I’ve had a Corvette in my garage since I was 16 so I’d say go for it. If you can do a Z06 I’d go that route but either one is a pretty amazing car.

Interesting dilemma. I would say keep the ZL1 1LE and add a C8, but that may not be in the financial cards. I have a 2018 ZL1 1LE 6-speed I got new, and I just purchased a 2023 C8 Z51/mag ride black/black coupe. I love the refinement of the C8, and its sophistication and luxury, but I would really miss the ZL1 1LE as a daily driver and track car if I didn't have it. The C8 is smooth and a joy to drive, but the 1LE is my rough-and-ready beastly muscle car. In fact, I'm hoping to get a 2023 or 2024 ZL1 1LE to replace my 2018 1LE, probably with the A10 (I'm in my 70s and the auto is easier, esp for track driving), so I'll have a new beast to get me into my final years of sports car driving. You can't go wrong, with whatever decision you make. Good luck!

Get what moves you.
I had a manual 2016 C7 Z06 but got turned off after it ran hot. Traded that for a Demon in 2018. Still wanted a manual track car, so I went with a 2023 ZLE over a C8. Zero regrets. I am on a list for a C8 ZR1, so we will see how that goes.

Like I said, if you can get a good trade in or sale price on your ZL1 and you are certain you can get it for MSRP (and you said no red interior, thank goodness), then go for it. |
