Replacing the rear Chevy Bowtie Badge HELP

When I had the car wrapped, the rear chevy bowtie obv had to come off. I told the installer that I was going to try to find an all black one, but I didnt, so I ended up just buying an OEM black/chrome one. I want to re-install this, but I am not sure where exactly it goes. I want it to be placed exactly where the OEM bowtie was, but I cannot find any templates online. Does anyone have a link, or another idea...or can measure down from your rear middle brake light to the top of the stock bowtie badge and let me know where to place mine?

Below is how it's done in the factory; unlike the heritage fender badge ("CAMARO" script), there is no paper or plastic foil template for this one.

Perhaps a dealership may have this or a similar placement tool... but just in case not or you can't find one, I checked mine for you: both the badge and and the trunk lid has a visible vertical center line that you can use to visually achieve a perfectly centered horizontal alignment, while the top of the bowtie is exactly 2.5" from the bottom of the third brake light (edge of the lamp body).

Oh wow, that is quite a tool for that job

Thank you for measuring! So to be clear, if I just measure exactly 2.5in down from the bottom of the brakelight to the top of the OEM badge, I should have it in the correct location?

Yup

You might want to mark the top of the left/right "arms" of the bowtie on the trunk lid with painter's tape, too, just to make sure it's level when you slap it on. Guess that's why the factory uses such a complicated (and adjustable) tool—they can do this placement job in about 2-3 seconds.

Mine came from the factory unlevel. Already had it replaced. Also the ZL1 hood emblem is off, too. No idea how they were attached cockeyed.

LOL, where did you get those pics? I would have never expected anyone to have pics of the alignment tool used for this.

Heh, a bit of research OCD before I purchased the car These are screenshots from a BBC video about the 6th gen in their "supercars, superbuilds" series.

Yeah the old How It's Made videos (now behind Motor Trend paywall) show a lot of on-the-production-line-at-LGR footage too.

Off the bat, the black bow tie has no specific significance behind it. It is purely an aesthetic choice, with most Chevy models able to be optioned with either the “regular” gold bow tie or the newer black one. With most Chevy models offering it as an option, the black bow tie is proving to be quite popular.
