Winter Storage
Has anyone ever stored their car, in an enclosed car trailer during the winter months? Just looking for some insight.

No issues at all. Put a battery tender on it, some mice control product in the trailer, cover it, and walk away until spring.

I also fill the tank, top off with Stabil, battery tender, and over inflate tires by 10 lbs. Done this every year, zero issues, like getting a brand new car every March!
Mine is going in for the winter, this weekend or next, the time has come. |

I have seen enclosed trailers build frost on the interior ceiling panels and when the sun warms the roof, it rains in the trailer. This is especially true on uninsulated trailers.

Hmmm.. Sounds like that's an issue with the trailer leaking in the first place. Water gets in, air temps warm up, water evaporates, temps go down, water condenses at the ceiling, freezes (maybe), temps go up, process repeats.

It has nothing to do with the trailer leaking. I sold enclosed trailers for 20 years and you could see this during winter on nearly every enclosed trailer that didn’t have an insulated ceiling.

You shouldn't get condensation in the first place if the moist air can vent to the outside properly. |

Ok. My cars are all in a heated shop, so not my worry.

Yeah yeah don't ride hard and put away wet. put away dry! But if you trap moisture inside a box, it'll stay there waiting for you to let it back out. Here's a little story. I've had the inside of my car fog up on a humid day when I closed the top. No this isn't the dumb leaky defrost door thing. Hot humid sunny day, top open. Drove her to the local Camaro meet up. Hour later before it rained I went and closed her up. So it rains and cools down in the evening and the INSIDE of my car goes completely fogged. Looked like a flood car. Wasn't. Coupe guys were freaking out "Oh man, your top's got a leak!" Vert folks laughed at them and then looked at me and said "yours does it too eh?" Yep, she was perfectly dry inside just like every other day. Hot humid air inside car + cold glass = condensation. Convertible_Things(TM). |

If the trailer is well ventilated, warmer air will come in during the day and the water will again condense at night, when the top of the trailer is radiating heat into space and reaching temps that may even be lower than the ambient air outside. Did you ever wonder why a sloped windshield gets frosty even when other windows do not? It's because the windshield faces top into space, which is a very cold place. |

If you look at houses and their pitched roofs, you see the exact opposite where there is often something like a ridge vent along the peak (the highest point) where the warmest air can exit easily. Inside of attic space on a house should never experience condensation issues and this is a huge part of why that space is vented as it is. Not sure I'm at all following what you're getting at here. |
