What tires you putting on the rear of the ZL1 stock wheels for traction??

Looking at these. thoughts?

My car is making just shy of 700rwhp. Looking for something to be better than the stock tires but not pretend to be drag radials. Something to play with in the corners, but straight line stability as well for just the street.

Heard a lot of good things about those. No personal experience

OP: Your profile location is shown as "Southeast". Not sure how cold it gets where you are. The Nitto 555R2 tires, per Nitto's published warning and also per stickers that apparently come on the tire, must not be "moved" if the ambient temperature is below -9C = +16F. At that temperature, any movement of the tires CAN cause the rubber to crack.

If that is not an issue for your local climate, or if, like me, you at least have a garage that never gets anywhere near that cold, these tires ARE recommended by a lot of people who need more rear end traction.

I have a pair just came in to the local tire dealer for me here in Alberta, Canada. I have a new 2022 LT1 with a Magnuson 2650 that, with the OEM 245/40-R20 Goodyear run-flat tires currently activates traction control all the way to at least 90 mph. The experienced guys on this forum have said that my best solution given my 8.5 inch wide rear wheels is a pair of the 555R2s in 275/35-R20 size.

Given our recent snowfall that left 6 inches of snow on the neighbourhood roads, I figure I'll wait a couple or few days for the snow to melt off before driving them home on the car! The temperature is not THAT low, but I have been warned that the snow traction would be awful!

My car is not a daily driver. If it were, I would view these tires as too "slippery" for cold and snowy weather use.

I've always ran R88R's on the back and have had good luck. Never ran the Nittos before.

555R2 for sure. I ran them on my 1000hp Hellcat and loved them.

I would run the 305 35 20s instead of the 30 series. With the blower you can use the taller tire to control some of the wheel spin. King runs the 35 series as I do. The 30 series sidewall is just to short. I ran the 10.34@135 on this tire at the Ls Fest.Name: 20220902_190043.jpg

I run Toyo R888R which are great on warm dry surfaces, but deadly in the wet and cold. Nitto says there is not a set of 555R2 in the US right now.

If we voted here, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or 5S would win all-around best tires when considering all uses, surfaces, and conditions (>40F)

Great tires...probably the best all-around tire there is for a higher horsepower streetcar. Handle well, very stable, great dry traction, doable wet, and wear no faster than SC3's. On the street with a second gear launch 1.8 60fts all day. At a well prepped track, 1.5's.

Yeah, my 2 Nitto 555R2s were the last 2 of 3 in Canada!

Subbed as I will be looking at new tires soon as well, these mostly recommended for straight line racing, or road racing as well?

To clarify, Nitto told me there were no 335 or 345 in the US. Summit's site says the NT 555 RII, P345/30R19 has to be special ordered with two week delivery. I'll call them.
