waiting for GM to accept order. Went with the convertible because my other car is a C8R coupe any options you wish you would have got on yours or options that were a waste? will have a chance to change order when accepted ordered with the Second generation side rocker moldings in Satin Black and thinking about changing to the Second generation ground effects in Carbon Flash Metallic not sure which to get? Thanks

I wasted $100 on the carbon fiber shifter cover. When you pick the vert option you lose out on PDR and eLSD. They are two thing I wish I had but the drop top was worth more to me.

Interesting. I would pass on both. NPP has had its reliability problems (and why do you have to be so loud?) and MRC is overkill for most drivers as well as being very expensive to replace when worn out. Also MRC does not do well if your car is inactive for long periods of time. The magnetic particles settle out.

Personal opinions... Not only do I like the controllable exhaust volume/tone, I really like to look of the quad pipes... I really like the Magnetic Ride Control, drives great on the highway in Tour and tightens up nicely in Sport and Track...

The car I bought used -- also a convertible, but a 2016 -- has both NPP and MRC. Going in, I didn't care about NPP, but (thought I) did care a lot about MRC, to wit:

NPP: I toggle solely between "Stealth" -- which isn't very stealthy on first cold-start of the day BTW -- and "Tour". Anything louder is, to me, unnecessary, and louder than I'd want to hear coming from somebody *else's* car. Personally, would not pay for it brand-new.

MRC: very tough call here, so here's my first-hand experience: I drove three different, non-MRC, rental SS's for some 1,300 miles before I finally decided I was buying my own. Seemingly everywhere one looked, one read that MRC was indispensable. Having now driven both, I won't disagree that it does work very well, but at the same time, at no time with the rentals did I think that the handling of the non-MRC cars (including a convertible) was flabby, and perhaps even more telling, neither did my girlfriend think that they were *too stiff*. Just right for the car, in other words.

Now that I have a car with MRC, I leave the suspension in "Sport", and never touch it. You should search elsewhere here on the forum, but I'd guess that the non-MRC suspension probably feels a lot like, if ever-so-slightly more relaxed than "Sport"...IOW, pretty darned OK in most circumstances.

Neither observation even takes into account durability and/or replacement cost, as already commented upon.

Bottom line: if you ended up WITHOUT NPP and MRC, on a 2023 2SS, I cannot imagine you would feel you got hosed. Just my $0.02.

Please show us some situations where NPP has failed and where magnetic ride has become ineffective from non-use. Asking for a friend...

NPP and MRC are nice options and worth the extra money in my opinion.

Absolutely love the MRC and NPP. The change in ride and lower exhaust note on the highway is worth it.

MRC has been around for a long time, I can’t imagine it having a high failure rate. Same with a simple solenoid for NPP.

Search the forum regarding NPP failures. As for MRC, this technology is familiar to me from its use in aerospace applications, where the storage problem is well known.

Not searching. Waiting for your research.

In the meantime, not hijacking the thread. Carry on.

NPP "failures" consist of valve rattling that has known fixes (see #1 and #2) and isn't that bad to begin with (my car had it, too, I fixed it, zero issues since then).

I don't feel any difference in the behavior of MRC since I bought my 2SS, and there were at least two winters when the car was stored for over 4 months. Given the construction of these magnetorheological dampers, it is plausible that particles would settle and stiffen up the suspension, but it hasn't happened on my car.

Wouldn’t order an SS without NPP, and I didn’t think MRC was a big loss, until my second 6th gen came with it. Now, it’s a non negotiable too.

I agree.. Its a personal thing for me also.. I couldn't imagine myself trying to keep a 6.2L quiet. Now I hate it when things get excessive but I love the sound of the exhaust on a 6.2 to be there when I put the pedal down.

The MRC was an awesome upgrade I thought for myself when I took out 1 with it and 1 without. I 100% noticed the difference.
