I was a bit bored today so I took the LT1 for a destination ride to check out a 1LE.
I’ve never seen Rapid Blue or a 1LE in person. Anyway, I get to the dealer and the salesman starts walking me towards the car and tells me the mechanics are performing some upgrades, but doesn’t know what they are. We can at least look at it. The hood is popped a bit and the doors are locked. He goes to get remote for the car while I stand there waiting. I figure what the heck, open the hood and check things out. What a surprise…the engine is torn apart. Brand freakin new 23. Come to find out it had a bad lifter right out of the factory. Hopefully this is a one off and not another oil pump, or valve spring type issue that affects multiple vehicles.

Good looking car though…I like RB better in person than in pictures, that’s for sure.

Interesting. Not sure I would want that specific car without some kind of extended warranty and a discount.

And yes Rapid Blue is much better in person than in pictures. Especially in 1LE guise.

Dang. I have been following the Blackwing forums now and this was sad to see this engine failure on a 2023 CT5V Blackwing with only 288 miles on it. There is another one with a bad oil leak. I hope they didn't forget how to build engines during the pandemic...

Yea, I don’t think I’d want it at all. Not really sure why they’d show someone the car in that condition...a bit odd if you ask me.

When I lifted the rag off the engine, the residual oil around the cylinder bore(s) looked pretty dirty ( for a new car). Maybe that denotes something, maybe not…

In the end, I’m sure they’ll fix it and have no problem selling it.
