If you vote right you won't have to get a Tesla or a gm. You think gm is waiting on mid term results to decide on xing the Camaro?

I would say change your subject line to say: "I don't want a Tesla."
I find that speaking for the masses tends to muddy the water quite quickly. While I may or may not agree with your sentiment, I would say that generalized statements like this do no one any favors.

The EVs might be inevitable. It's NOT an "eco" thing, but, to those who have experience with an EV (I do), it is a COST SAVING thing AND a performance thing.
We used to run a gasoline Turbo Kia Soul for my wife's homecare aide job, where she put on 125 km = 77 miles per shift, helping very old (80 to 100+ year old) people stay in their homes versus being in a nursing home. We spent about $25 per month for gas, when gas was a lot cheaper than today. When the EV version of the Kia Soul became available, I did some cost estimating on electricity versus gas, and we traded the turbo Kia for an identical EV Kia, except of course the EV Kia weighed significantly more than the gas version. The saving per month was much larger than I had conservatively estimated. Our "fuel" bill went from $425 per month for gas to $77 per month for electricity. And on acceleration from 50 mph to pass, the EV left the turbo for dead. Yes, our EV Kia had a Kia-claimed range of only 380km = 236 miles per charge. However, that was a drastically conservative number intended to shield Kia from low range complaints in the winter, where EV vehicles' battery capacity drops a bit with cold temperatures, and more of the battery energy is consumed to heat the vehicle's interior. The ACTUAL battery capacity we experienced in a couple of years of ownership wasjust under 500 km (ok, 490 to 495 km typically = over 300 miles. For OUR specific usage, even that was "more than enough", since we simply topped up the charge every night when we were sleeping. We could have charged it only every 2nd or even 3rd night, but my wife had to cross a mountain pass every commute, and there were rather frequent events where an accident or bad weather closed the pass, so she would stay over at a friend's home and run a 2nd shift on the same charge the next day. Would that EV Kia have worked for everyone? NO. Not with the current too-few charging stations and too-long recharging times required. Our EV Kia required a couple of hours to recharge from one day's route, and a FULL (0 to 100%) charge would take, I'm told, 8 hours. That's unacceptable for a cross country trip, or for anyone needing more than 300 mile range on any given day. But, The Canadian and US Governments both know that. The only thing keeping the number of charging staitons low, and the charging rate too slow, is the lack of a sufficient number of users for the infrastructure required to power an entire national vehicle fleet, and the cost of proviidng that infrastructure BEFORE it is actually needed. "Our infrastructure" was a 220V charging station in our garage that cost us about $800 for the charging station and $250 of electrician labour and materials to install it. We then got a $300 rebate from the Canadian Federal Government for doing the project. Look carefully at the $425 minus $77 = $348 per month SAVING on "fuel". Consider also the favourable impact on oil imports from mideast countries whose politics we do not like, and the elimination of the "oil blackmail" playing card. Look also at the incredible acceleration rates that even the current, "early" EVs offer, DESPITE their higher vehicle weight (which will reduce dramatically as batteries become lighter and much faster to recharge). If we say "over my dead body", we are eerily similar to the blacksmiths and stable owners who probably said the same thing about gasoline powered vehicles in the early 1900s. I personally don't fear the replacement of gasoline vehicles with electric ones. But, that does not mean that I don't appreciate gasoline powered vehicles while they are still here. Right now, we are experiencing the "golden age" of gasoline powered performance cars. The products offered to us by the car factories have never been better, nor even CLOSE to being as quick, as fast, as reliable, as luxurious, and as much fun, than they are right now. That's why, at age 71, I just bought a brand new 2022 LT1, and had it supercharged with a Magnuson 2650, and had the interior brightened considerably with customized seating. (My wife and I would have bought a ZL1 had any been available here in Canada, but there were none when we went shopping for one). It's easily the most fun car I have owned, and I say that after owning 5 Mustangs, 4 Corvettes, and a C63 Mercedes. This 6th generation Camaro is SO well focused on its mission. In our retirement now begun, my wife and I intend to enjoy this final curtain call for gasoline performance cars. But we will certainly welcome the acceleration, fuel cost saving, and political satisfaction that an EV infrastructure and more reasonably priced EV performance cars will undoubtedly offer in the near future. Bring it on. Jim G |

No. If there was any difference at all, it was small enough that I never even noticed. However . . .
keep in mind that I live in Canada, not the U.S., and that at the time we owned the 2 kia Souls, we lived in British Columbia, where The Provincial Government "nationalized" the entire auto insurance market - i.e. you could only buy insurance from a "company" set up and run by The Province. That "company's" rate setting was highly political versus experience-based. For example, its management disliked motorcycles, because motorcycle accidents result in far higher MEDICAL claims than car or truck accidents do, and The Province also ran the provincial health insurance, which like the car insurance, was a provincial monopoly. So, the province had the highest motorcycle insurance costs in all of Canada (and maybe The World?). To quantify that: My 2008 600cc Kawasaki ZX-6R sportbike missile cost me about $85 per month to insure in British Columbia. Now, after we moved to Province of Alberta, it's about $50 per month. So, don't take my EV versus gas Kia Soul insurance experience as gospel. ![]() Jim G |

I thought north America had enough oil to not need anybody else's oil. We need oil for fertilizer, plastics and natural gas for heat and electricity production. Can the electrical grid handle the demand with out oil. I think our government has proven we are not ready to cut back on oil production.

Absolutely NOT ,it's going to take many years to upgrade the Electrical grid to handle, let's say in 10 years 50% of. the national population being EV , now let's say it's 80% , they the Energy Companies will half to move spark around from grid to grid ,and maybe think about increasing Nuclear Energy to be one of the primary sources. I'm not Electrical Engineer, a retired Technical Engineer, and just analiziing this senerio. It all comes down to a Law of mathematical averages. Where is all that Xtra needed spark going to come from , don't count on Hydro electric, were at a shortage now . Run your house hold appliance's, keep your internet or charge your car, what's more important to one may not be to another.

I have a 2020 Tesla Model 3 Performance and a ‘23 1SS 1LE. The Tesla is the perfect daily driver. 1000 miles of driving costs $33 at $0.12 with autopilot, turn signal cameras, collision avoidance, actual windows you can see from and absolutely destroying 0-60 mph. I have the Camaro for the driving experience, V8 roar, shifting my own gears, track days without worrying about charging etc. I daily drove an ‘18 1SS 1LE for 2 years too.
EVs are more eco. Power generation is more thermally efficient than burning gas in an ICE engine. Batteries are already being recycled. Mining of the rare metals is an issue but certainly won’t be forever. EVs are here to stay. I bought the Camaro as the last GM stick shift sports car possibly ever made. I take it to cars and coffee with my Dads ‘67 SS/RS…tons of teslas around, no one cares about those anymore
