Changing out the midpipes keeping the Factory NPP
So I'm curious if there would be any type of gains to just changing out the midpipes from my headers to the factory exhaust? I know there are gains (soundwise not power) doing a full exhaust headers back but I want to actually keep the factory suitcase as its called.
I love the should the headers and h/f cats to the factory box but was thinking changing out the midpipes would adjust the tone a little bit. Thoughts...........................

If it's an auto, then there will be some small gains deleting the afm valve section. If it's a manual, then no.

Lotta people will say it's a waste of money, but if you're just zeroing in on tone, I'd suggest the "crush pipe delete" option of Hooker- https://www.americanmuscle.com/hooke...1&gclsrc=3p.ds
It's a subtle change, but I think you'd like it!

If I was gonna do that I'd look at a resonated midpipe like I think AWE(?) has something.

I posted a couple of pics for this old thread that I thought illustrated just how significant the crushed area is. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...t=crush+delete post #12.
I think Chevy did a great deal of computer modelling to ensure no loss of flow and also think they're utilizing the shape change to create a resonation of that sound that has a higher pitch and a wicked, more exotic sound from the factory. But some of us just want that unmistakable "big displacement V-8" sound. |

You can change the OEM Xpipe for an Hpipe to get a different sound. Hpipe should give you a more classic muscle car lopey sound.
