Had a life altering moment

Words alone cannot explain this;

Thursday morning heading to work in the Challenger, the same route I take a lot. 2 lane road (one each way) rural highway 45mph. It was me, a 90s Ford Ranger then a Ford F150. 6ish AM. I go around a gradual left turning corner and I see a gray car heading at me, in his lane (maybe an Evo - do not remember), from around behind him comes a white Nissan (Ultima or Maxima) not newest but not old. He was coming right at me. In my head I am screaming what is he doing, what is he doing. Mind you, I was going at the speed limit, and he was flying. Right at me! I hammered the Brembos and came to a very fast stop. The Ranger locked them up and slid sideways towards out shoulder just missing me. The F150 was far enough back and stopped.

The Nissan, somehow, pulled to his left at the last second. He missed me buy inches. The Ranger missed me buy a few feet.

With that said, I will only replace my pads with the OEMs. A few inches let alone a few feet.

Good justification for a dash cam along with the OEM brake pads. Glad nobody was hurt!

Thanks for sharing that moment... I'd rather enjoy it vicariously than personally!

Brings to mind that old saying attributed to Mark Twain- " Each morning, get up and first thing, eat a live frog. Nothing worse will likely happen to you all day long." Glad you're all good.

Pads... And tires... Top tier, not "these are good enough, I can slow down"...

and it sounds like the Challenger has the Brembo's and pads up to the situation.

could have been worse.i was pushed sideways by a semi for a good distance in my 5th gen a couple of weeks ago.could have reached out and touched his grill.still not sure if the car is totalled.but all the 6th gen guys that diss the 5th gen for being heavy should note that i was not injured at all.did get checked out and had the glass slivers lavaged out of my left ear.

Yeah, it's weird that other heavy cars or SUV don't have them. I know... if ABS will be triggered then you "lose" that braking power. But. What if you are in Utah coming down the hill and need to break a few times, making them hot...

Inches is too close for comfort. At least the brakes and your reaction both did what was needed to keep you and the car out of harms way.

Idk what it is about Altimas but people drive them like they're qualifying for the Indy 500. Just the other day I was doing 85 and still had an Altima blast past me like I was a lapped car. Glad you're okay though. Moments like that are never fun.
