Please help with my spark plugs I just pulled out
Hi guys,
I need your expertise on analyzing my plugs I just pulled from my motor, they are 6 months old and I ordered a new set of ngk tr7 iridium's that are on the way. Do these look fouled? |

Looking at some of the classic plug color charts, they might indicate being a bit lean but not sure I’d call them ‘fouled.’

300 miles? Bad valve seal or head gasket?

6 months and only 300 miles? You're still probably in some kind of break-in period. How's it running? I'd install the new plugs you're getting and continue to monitor the situation paying close attention to the cylinder that had the questionable plug. If you're really anal (like me) you could do a compression test for information purposes.

Exactly, it's still breaking in and I've got new tr6 iridium on the way. I'm going to install them and run the car and pull the number one cylinder plug that was slightly soaked and see if it's getting oily. It was running fine, here is the Dyno graph running only 12 psi and E65 fuel. |

Only 300 miles on a boosted engine.....I'd say the rings are not even seated yet. I'd say those plugs look normal. Was there a reason you pulled them? Misfire?

pulled them because my supercharger just got damaged a few days ago, I was out doing a pull and then I saw I dropped boost on my data log in vcm scanner. I came home and saw that the inlet tube for the blower was off and there were metal shavings in the engine bay, and the engine sucked up the small little pieces that got through the intercooler. These were tiny aluminum shavings, nothing big so I decided to pull the blower off and I'm sending it off today to ESS tuning to get upgraded since it was maxed out on my setup anyway, I'm going to get the G4 upgrade to mine. I wanted to pull the plugs and check them while I was in there. |

I'll enter the raffle.
Number 1 cyl or piston or rings fooked from running metal through it. ? Hope not but. A cookie to the person guessing closest? I'd start with a compression leakdown test of #1 compared to another easy to reach cyl before I ran it more. |

Ok, more details have been given. You were "enjoying" your new build and the impeller checked out and you're concerned about a lightly fouled plug. Now I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to forced induction but I'm fully versed in worry and speculation and I've got to side with Silversleeper on this one. A chunk of that blower piece may have found its way into an undesirable location in your cylinder possibly damaging a ring or scratching the cylinder wall. In addition to the previous advice you may want to do a borescope of each cylinder to check for damage before you put everything back together.
