confession time

I've had my car since June of 2021 and would like to think I know quite a bit about it, controls, settings and what not. Yesterday I learned on accident there are two traction control off settings! I can't believe I didn't know this before, I hit the button twice on accident and boom. Now real power time.

In case someone else out there didn't know, now you do.

I really hope there are at least some like me. End of confession time

whoops I posted this in the 1le section, mine is a 1ss.

The TC and Stability Management stuff seems to work really well in these cars. Definitely seems to shave quite a bit of power to tame it down at times. It's smooth enough that a lot of the time you barely notice it pulling power. I shut mine off a couple of times and played around. A heavy right foot and a little bit of misjudgement could put a guy in bad shape in a hurry, lol.

Let me surprise you even deeper , there are actually 3 "off" settings even on our non-1LEs:

1) single press turns off traction control but leaves stabilitrak on;
2) the double-tap you discovered enters competitive mode where traction control is off and stabilitrak is in limited intervention mode; and
3) if you hold the button down for 5+ seconds, everything is turned off, you're on your own.

1LE and ZL1 cars have a whole host of performance traction management (PTM) modes in lieu of our single competitive mode.

And here's a confession of mine: While I knew about the various mode, I have yet to turn off any nanny

I'm taking it easy for now, trying to learn how the car reacts and working my way up. I drive driving in a twisties, and losing control on such road would certainly be a costly and dangerous mistake.

If I can find my way to the track soon enough, that might be a good place to safely explore the car's expansive capabilities!!!

I have mostly been doing the same. I love the car and would hate to pitch it in the woods, or worse, playing around with little seat time in a somewhat unpredictable environment. The nannies may take away some power, but for just driving on the street its a fair compromise.

My wife was making fun of me for driving like a sissy. I fixed that with one hot corner entry and exit, lol.

No shame in that, not a lot of people are particularly keen on being a belt for a tree or post.

1LE cars still have the comp mode (double tap in sport) along with PTM modes (double tap in track).

This hasn't held true for me. I tried that in my car(22 1SS 1LE) after reading the thread explaining all the PTM stuff. Both double tap in sport or track bring me to PTM module. The way to get into comp mode for me is to simply single tap the "tc" button.

I dont think I will ever go into the comp modes turning off the traction control unless I am in a wide open space with nothin to hit and do burnouts to waste thousands of dollars on a set of tires. I love driving in track mode most the time.

Turning off the TC is fine, it lets you spin the wheels and kick the rear a bit, turning off SC... Well now that I'm afraid of and the most I'd do would be a TPM mode with limited SC, if the nannies are what prevent me from crashing my car, suffering bodily damage and damaging other people/property, then call me a baby.
