Wait for my order...or "settle"
I placed my order for a 2SS 1LE M6 in Rapid Blue on 2/15 and have accepted that it will be a long wait, but a dealer close to me just got in a 2SS 1LE M6 in Riverside Blue and now I am debating whether I should hold out for the car I configured or "settle" for one I could get right now. It was a customer order but they said the guy who ordered it didn't realize it was a manual because when it came in they found out he couldn't drive a stick.
Now, Riverside Blue was my second choice and the only option it has that I didn't order is the PDR, but that's a $1300 option I don't really need (although I'd save a little on the color change). I did order mine with a bunch of options this one doesn't have, but most are cosmetic/dealer installed, other than the performance air intake, but to have the dealer install all of them after the fact I'm going to probably pay at least an extra $1000 just in in installation. I will probably wait, because I really want my next car to be exactly the what I want, but my question to the community is...what would you do in this situation? |

Only you can really answer this. For me it's V.O. color of the car only or I'm done. If you like that second color and get those LPO items installed the way you want. And the price is right you might want to consider. Right now GM/ Allocations/Chips/Production/delivery issues are wack IMO. We might never get the car we ordered even in 23'.

First I would find out the chances of the dealer getting the allocation for your order anytime soon. I'd probably buy the Riverside Blue one though, just because it's warming up and best case scenario, the other one may take another 3-6 months to come in.

Wait for what you want, IMHO.

I heard the PDR deletes the front collision avoidance system, which I consider an advantage, and the performance air intake is practically useless for performance, it's an expensive visual enhancement that you can add later even yourself if you really want (you probably won't, and a Roto-Fab looks way better anyway), flashing the tune it comes with is free, ie included in the price. All in all, I'd go snatch this 2SS 1LE up in a heartbeat.

The PDR is cool. Recording driving and using it as a pseudo dash cam is all extra. The PDR saved my ass when I got rear ended a few years back in my 17 1LE.

I would go with the Riverside Blue now and start your Camaro experience.

I am struggling with this right now. 2SS Vert order since Feb, but looking forward… I don’t mind a wait of a month or two, but we don’t have forever. With all the craziness in the world, life is short, and the camaro’s run is even shorter. I’d almost rather have an “imperfect” camaro than none at all.

I got into the ordering process pretty late last year but if I’m still sitting around at 1100 status on a 23 order close to Christmas I’ll probably “settle” on ZLE that has my main options that I must have. One option has to be the 1LE package and the other option is a manual transmission. I’m pretty much settled on black but if they bring out some crazy looking orange or something that speaks to me that will also be an option I wouldn’t just settle for. Everything else will be a moot point for me at that point because other options can be installed later. PDR was up the there for me but I know I could live without it if I had to “settle”

I wouldn't let a few cosmetic options keep me from buying the Riverside Blue color either if ultimately you are fine with that color. It was my second choice as well, but I really wanted Rapid Blue. After I got my car I installed several accessories myself, including the black fuel door cover, strut tower brace and suede knee pads. I purchased those from my original dealer using my original deposit because I felt bad for cancelling my order, but you can find the parts cheaper from other vendors like Wildhammer Motor Sports.

This is an easy comment from a person that has his car. I know because I drive mine almost daily right now but before I got it the wait was almost unbearable because of all of the unknowns. If you could bank on allocations, production, shipping......
It would be no problem but all those factors are all over the place. |

In the end, I am extremely happy I was patient and waited for the car I originally wanted. If he's somewhat flexible on the color as it is? Then sure, go for Riverside Blue - it's a gorgeous color! But if he's SET on Rapid Blue, and Riverside is a concession? I'd be waiting still - RB is so unique.
