Goodyear 3R tires

What do you think of your G3Rs

Last edited by CC2018SS1LE; 05-03-2022 at 02:08 PM. Reason: Tires were fine, just did not heat them up ent

They don't typically have much fall off until they are corded. They are more temperature dependent, so if the ambient temp is less than 50 F it takes several aggressive laps to get them in the right operating range.

It was in the 70s drove many laps hard, tried different air pressure, tires were dangerous. First time ever, I had to use traction control.

I haven't used them on my personal car, but the others I have driven with them, we used 32H and had good luck.

I've been using them for years and never experienced much of a fall off. Even flipped them on the rim and tracked them to they were worn down evenly. 19" 305/20 square. Are they old or been exposed to freezing temps?

I start cold at 30, so I pass 33lbs they were horrible
I drive car on street, so use only 2 deg negative camber in front. When the tires were the best, I ran at 38lbs, took 4 seconds off, my best time with regular G3’s
Thx

I purchased last year, use them in Florida, so no freezing. I scrubbed them in last year used them for few sessions, then stored inside until this year. January was my first event, they were amazing, took off 4 seconds a lap from my best times with stock G3’s.
Went back to Sebring last week, sliding all over the place. When they are cold, they feel like old hard tires, you can not even put your finger nail into it. I have to ck date code, maybe they sent me old tires. I think I paid almost 2k for stock 20in set
Thx

I have been through probably 15 sets of 3Rs and they seem to be about the same all the way to the cords as stated above. They are extremely sketchy when the ambient is cold and need to get up to temp. Cold starting pressure at 26-27psi always seems best working up to maybe 36psi hot max. GM recommends 26 cold psi also.

I start off about 28 psi cold and hot max is about 36-37.

In my experience they're great until cords are showing, they get cold, or then get around 3 or 4 years old depending on how they were stored. Based on what was tried before my first guess would be age or how they were stored. I've also heard a few people say when they get into them and start over-driving them they can get greasy, but that's not something I've experienced for myself and doesn't seem to be a common thing.
