Dealership Inventory

I reached out to a few dealers to inquire about the availability of 2SS 1LE (rapid blue or wild cherry with manual transmission) inventory and went to a few local (San Antonio, TX) dealerships and wanted to share the following. I don't have a relationship with these dealerships or salespersons and don't benefit from passing along this info, just trying to help fellow Camaro enthusiasts.

1) Dimmitt Chevy in Clearwater, FL has a rapid blue ZL1 in transit that is available (according to salesperson this isn't a customer order). Unsure if market adjustment is added or if a required package is added by dealership. https://www.dimmittchevrolet.com/Veh...t&model=Camaro. Contact Mary Ellen Livesay for more information: mlivesay@dimmittmail.com

2) Ancira Chevy in San Antonio, TX has a number of units on the lot (at least 3 have been there since early December; including a ZL1 convertible) This dealership is charging market adjustment and has a required package added on to all vehicles that arrive at dealership. https://www.ancirachev.com/searchnew...t&Model=Camaro

I found an acceptable build in transit to a dealer in Colorado. Reached out to them and it was not a sold order. Told me the price was what was listed as MSRP. Today they emailed me to let me know it would be at the dealer on Feb 21st. I asked about payment, did they want me to finance through them or just send a bank check. They then informed me there would be a $5000.00 market adjustment.

I've been finding the same. I'm talking with a dealership in Tomball, TX and one in Jordan, UT, and both selling $5k above MSRP. I'm almost to the point where I'll be willing to pay half the adjustment, but not $5k for something that will depreciate as soon as I drive off the lot.

Doesn't seem like this situation will get any better in the near future either. So, question I'm struggling with is do I bite the bullet to get the car I want (or as close as to the car I want) or do what my gut says and not overpay and risk not getting one before GM ends the Camaro as we know it.

That kind of seems to be the new norm for Camaro. I found a red 2022 ZL1 in Georgia about 500 miles away. Made contact through their website. Got the standard auto reply of a sales person will get in touch with me. They did the following day. It was not a sold order, but they wanted a $5000 adjusted market value over MSRP and a $1000 deposit. We didn't even approach the subject of Employee Pricing. I'm just going to wait for the 2023's can be ordered because it sounds like ordering a 2022 now is pointless.

That's ridiculous! And a dealer trying to take advantage of the market. Chevy should pull their allocations like it has threatened to do with the new Z06.

I was just thinking to make a post about this!! Since GM is pissed about the Z06 adjustments, if we all threaten dealers we're going to contact GM regarding these market adjustments, maybe, just maybe they'll drop them in fear of losing allocations! I mean... the lawyer threat usually gets things done.

There is a reason car salesmen have a reputation for being just above scum, and the ones who are taking advantage of the market know full well the benefits and problems marking up a car will cause, with all who are involved. Best bet is to remember these scumlords and not do business with them again in the future.

Strictly speaking, it would only be capitalism if using a dealer were optional. Also, calling these "market adjustment" middlemen scumbags is entirely within people's rights, and so is choosing another dealership that doesn't play these games. Who knows, maybe these other dealerships will end up making more money and goodwill in the process.

No my friend. 1. You don't need to buy this car. 2. You can go to another dealership which will have different offer.

But I would also vote for end of dealerships. Just order online, pick up at manufacturer, or pay for shipping. Right now I am few miles from factory and I still pay 1200 bucks for shipping...

If you find a Camaro you want, maybe try to negotiate the adm. Both out-of-town dealerships I contacted indicated they'd be willing to negotiate price. My local dealerships told me adm wasn't negotiable so I'm steering clear of them and going with one of the out-of-town dealerships.

Dealerships are a business and to remain in business must make a profit. With the supply chain issues there is little inventory on the lot, which in turn means operating costs are the same but little revenue coming in through sales (yes I understand a good chunk of revenue comes from the service side; if people aren't driving as much they aren't bring their vehicles in for service so the line of business also suffers). So, as much as I have over paying for anything, I'm willing to pay a few thousand to get the car I want, and if that helps a dealership pay its employees so be it. Just my 2 cents.
