ZL1 1LE PPF pre cut info needed.
Have a ZLE on order (might be getting one in transit instead if I can find the right one).
Im in MI. Im getting it paint corrected and then wrapped. Not entirely sure if im doing the entire car or just the major leading edges/hood etc. With that said im most likely going with a shop that has been doing it for 20yrs. Ive seen their work and lots of info about them on other boards etc. AFAIK they only do PPF. No tinting or anything else. They said they also only do pre cut expel kits. They had a referral for a shop on the other side of town that will do custom wraps/bumper off etc. (they do mostly exotics) Im sure that comes with a price. Don’t get me wrong, I want to protect the car BUT for me I dont think its the right car to pay potentially lambo wrapping prices. My main question is on the ZLE is it really noticeable or weird looking on the front fascia? Im sure some of the edges cant be wrapped due to the nature of the design. Any pics/info would be appreciated. Thanks! Last edited by ZL1plumbin; 12-25-2021 at 11:08 PM. |

I have a friend who owns a tint and ppf shop. He did the expel program cuts on my car. It fits and looks great.

I had my 2022 ZLE completely PPF wrapped right after I picked it up from the dealer. The guy I went with used the pre cuts. I personally don’t care how good a shop is….no one was taking parts of my car apart to wrap it. To the untrained eye…most people don’t know it’s wrapped. As much as I would love to have what looks to be a show car…I already have them and I driving this car. The edges from the precut are not perfectly to the edges etc but its very close. I can live with the edges knowing no one disassembled my car and chipped paint when putting back together etc.

Sounds like we’re In the same boat as far as using the car. I want to keep it nice BUT don’t want a show car. Even though it’s strictly a toy for me I’ll drive it more than most in the same circumstance. You guys talked me into being ok with the pre cut kit. These installers are really good and do a lot of exotics. I actually thought about doing a matte clear PPF if I was going to end up doing the whole car. I’ve seen some cars done in that and it’s amazing if you like matte paint. |

I had the front end of my 19 ZL1 wrapped with the precut expel product and it looked fine to me, but it does leave some very small areas on the bumper unprotected.
Do the hood in matte, so as not to clash with the matte black wrap. IMHO. I wouldn't do the entire car in matte, but it is your car, your tastes. |

Did you do the black chin spoiler? I’ve seen some people do that and I’m not sure how I feel about that? It’s just a piece of un painted plastic correct? In my head I feel like it would be more cost effective/easier to replace it one day if needed? Especially since it might get messed up due to scraping …

I believe the ZL1 and ZLE are different- the ZLE is plastic and not painted?

Glad they have precut pieces......many a horror story of razor blade cuts all over a car...
