Camaro models losing Rear Park Assist(UD7)

Just got the notice from GM that Camaros(3LT, 2SS and ZL1) that would normally come standard with Rear Park Assist(rpo UD7) will be built without it, starting with production on 12/20/21.

For those of you with cars on order with this option, there will be a free retrofit available at a later time that dealers will perform so that this functionality is available again for the affected cars.

This is going to affect almost every GM model so it's not just Camaro here. This will also cause some models to lose the Rear Automatic Braking feature as it is tied to Rear Park Assist.

So, the price stays the same but the feature is missing? Seems ridiculous if so. If it's added later that helps, but how much later, and how much wasted time at the dealership to get it installed.
And I suppose it's less annoying, to me anyway, that it's across the board (even Caddy's) and not limited to Camaros. I guess better this vs. having them sit in a parking lot for 6 months waiting for $15 worth of chips/sensors.

Does this mean cars ordered in the future will be retrofitted too or is that option only available on cars currently on order?

What a crap show GM has going on. They seem to be In a horrible spot compared to Chrysler(Stelantis). Just ordered a loaded 2500 and not one thing is constrained OR waiting list at the dealer. Business as usual. I have a ZL1 1LE on order (hasn’t been picked up)
I might not end up getting the car if it’s missing who knows what by the time mine would be getting built. Maybe it will be better by then ….

I can see it now. Windows will be roll up and retrofitted at a later date

So it will come with the back up sensors already installed in the bumper but just not functioning?

I'm fine with it as long as it is retrofitted later. The camera will do enough.

Or maybe w/ the holes plugged temporarily.

I believe those are painted, are they not? if so, I'd hope RAlvSS is correct

Actually I just took a look at a few pictures... Looks like there are no visible sensors on the bumper, so maybe either way would be fine

They, they are painted, nothing says they couldn't paint the plugs as well.

That being said, I hope the sensors are already in there as well, but something tells me it wont be the case.

Incorrect, there are 4 sensors on my '22 2SS, two on either side of the license plate indentation just above the level of where the SS badge goes.

Thanks for the correction! I was some pictures, and either those didn't have it or somehow they were not visible on them (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it haha). But on yours, you can clearly see them.
