Hardwired USB Phone Mount

So... got a strange one for the group. I've got a 2018 so I'm forced to use wired Android Auto. I don't like having wires running all over my car so I'm looking for a phone holder that can receive a USB wire and then when you mount the phone into the holder, it mounts into the holder's own USB-c connector. That way I can hide the hardwiring for the phone holder under trim, etc. and just clip my phone into the holder and it should work with wired AA. Everything I've come across is for wireless charging which I could care less about. Any ideas?

What would be bad about leaving the plugged-in phone in your console?

Can't speak for the OP's phone, but my old iPhone 7s does not fit in the console. There's not a whole lot of room in there.

It looks like shit and I've had it fly out of the cupholder on a 1.15G corner.

Edit: on you meant the armrest console... it gets too hot in there since the phone wants to charge while it's plugged in as well. And I'll forget to take the phone with me when I leave the car because I have the intelligence of a turtle.

I just started using the 3d printed holder that someone on this site shared specs on

Had to increase the phone cradle area a few times to get my phone with 2pc case to fit right but as you can see it fits great and with a 90 degree end on the cable stays out of the way nicely

I just leave the plug the cable plugged into the center console all the time, when I get in the car I plug in the phone end and leave it on the holder

You have another option, AAWireless that I've been using successfully for a while now: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...4&postcount=10

I may go with the AA Wireless option. That phone cradle would hold the phone, but I don't want to plug my phone is by hand every time. If the cradle itself had a USB docking port that would be perfect. I figure if it had a built in USB connector, then I can streamline the USB cable that needs to go to the center console and really hide it/run it tight. But if I need to manually plug my phone in every time by hand, then it kinda defeats the purpose.

Pro clip seems like the only option of ready made? Not sure though.

I do agree with you, Arpad: I've been using the AAWireless dongle since months and I'm very satisfied with it. No wires, immediate connection (it starts pairing when you open the doors)..

See you!!,

I have the ProClip console mount that clips to the right fwd edge of the console. No drilling or mod required and it stays in place. I bought a 6' cord and have it plugged into the USB, then comes out the right side and down, then tucked up under the lower edge of the right side of the console going forward. It comes out the forward end and I have it wrapped a few wraps around the base of the ProClip mount with just enough slack to manually plug it into the phone. The cord is mostly hidden and not flopping around all over. Takes 2 seconds to plug it in.
Probably the closest you'll get to what you're looking for.

Another vote for ProClip...

I use the console mount and run the wire tucked into the edge of the console. The wire is only visible for the 4 inches to the base of the mount.

I AutoX and Track and the mount stays put.

Could also do what I do. Plug it in and place it in the passenger seat pocket in the back. No wires.

I don't want to manually plug the phone in and then place it into the mount each time is the other problem. If the ProClip mounts had the USB plug already in place, that would be a winner. I ended up ordering AA Wireless for March delivery for the time being.

If it makes a difference, I put mine in the holder first then plug it in. The tail of the cord wrapped around the ProClip base is less than an inch away from the phone port so it's just a quick pinch-and-insert motion. I get what you want, though, more of a "docking" slide-it-in-and-done deal.
