How much does the Nav system update cost?

I have a 2016 Camaro SS that has the navigation package but I've never updated it since I bought it used.

How much does the downloadable update from GM cost?

Please do not waste your money on that $900 dollar option. It's better to connect your phone via bluetooth (or aux cord) and just use Google Maps, Waze, GPS, etc.

Agree. Then again it came with the car. If I was ordering I wouldn't add nav on. Besides, I have a large Garmin unit that's easier to read anyway and lifetime updates.

I don't mind the nav tbh. It hooks to the gauge cluster and hud which using apple car play or Android auto doesn't do, it's pretty decent for an auto manufacturer nav system, and I believe the option was only like $450 which isn't horrible.

This was discussed many times, there are arguments for and against the built-in nav vs the Waze/Google Maps/AA/CarPlay route. For what it's worth, GM charges $99 each year for map updates and typically does not update the map software itself.

If you prefer using your phone, I suggest AAWireless (AA) or CPlay2AIR (CarPlay) and you won't need to mess with cords. I have the former with my Android phone, it works flawlessly, I just plop my phone on the wireless charging pad and I'm all set. Then again, I still prefer the built-in navigation for the most part, guess we're not all alike

What? I updated mine a couple of months ago for $99, which is less than what anyone pays per year for the unlimited data plan you need to use your phone.

He didn't read the OP completely and thinks a new car is about to be purchased, with or without the navigation option...

The option was $450 on the 2016 Camaro. It came with it when I bought it used.

If I were ordering a Camaro I wouldn't pay it. $450 plus having to pay to update it, no thanks. My Garmin is better and free updates.

For me, the primary benefit of having the factory nav is that it will display in the HUD on the 2SS. The other major benefit over using your phone is that it will work in areas were your cell signal sucks or there is no coverage at all. For only about 1% of the cost of the car, it's worth it to me. YMMV.

The reason I like the factory Nav is the same as JKSully. I went to the Tail of The Dragon earlier this year with a big group of Camaros, and even when my phone had no signal in the mountains I always had nav through the car.

You don't need GPS on the dragon anyway, you're running one way or the other. The areas where you would eventually need it typically has cell service.
