Fans on after car was shut off?

After a small drive this morning I go to park the car and notice the fans are still on, and stayed on for around 5 mins after? Let the car cool down and after an hour check fluids, filled just under the neck. Temp gauge was running normally as well. Anybody know why it did this? My gut would usually tell me it’s something with the tstat, but if anyone has had this issue any advice would help!

Have you had your car tuned or changed the T Stat to a 160?

The only time I have had this issue was when the temp gauge was not showing anything and I had to replace the tstat. If you temp gague is normal, I am not sure.

Car is tuned, had that done around a year ago now but did not change to the mishimoto 160, was told to just stick to oem. I did just recently change hoods to a zl1 style so maybe that’s messing with it? It did also rain wednseday this week which the car sat outside for so maybe something got wet?

Update!
So about 4 hours later now, started the car and the fans were on full blast immediately, and now the temp gauge is bottomed out and not moving.

For some reason I remember something like this happening when my MAF was disconnected. Check that? If you have the ability to inspect sensor readings check temp and pressure sensors for valid readings.

I had a couple of occurrence with high fans and they wouldn't cut off. My car had 160 thermostat and was tuned. The high fans would come on on cooler mornings. If the car didn't get over 168 degrees after 15 - 20 minutes of driving, it would happen everytime. Only way to get the fans to go out for me was pull the battery cable to reset. I learned to drive in a one lower gear to get it to warm up on cooler mornings. When it got above 170 degrees, I would put it in drive and drive normally.

You might try pulling the battery cable to reset.

I've had something similar with a completely stock car on a hot day after parking in an also-hot garage. Given that you're in a hot climate to begin with, it may be perfectly normal.
