Mismatched ported heads

I think I know the obvious answer to this question, "don't do it" ... However for the sake of conversation I'm going to ask anyway...

Let's just say I have a set of ported heads from some random company, let's call them GPI ... And one of those heads ends up being no good. What would be the downfall of putting a head on that's, let's say it's the GM CNC head, on just that one side. So you'd have one brand on one bank and another brand on the other. Flow rate wise I'm sure they're close, but I can't find a side by side comparison. Is this a really bad idea or just a bad idea?

Sounds about as smart as a 1 legged man entering a ass kicking contest.

Horrible idea. You're going to be off bank-to-bank. Unless the port volumes and cross-sectional areas are the same, you're going to have different amounts of air entering each bank. If they are close, sure, it might work. If they are far off, you're going to have issues that may result in you hurting your engine.

CNC Port =/= CNC Port.

Thanks for the response.

To be clear, this was not my idea, but a local engine shop. I ordered a new pair of heads this morning.

I would stay far away from that engine shop.

Well, he was getting ready to leave to go to the ass kicking contest in his submarine, but before he left, he decided to finally get around to installing the screen door on it....
