C7 or ZL1?

I know this a Camaro forum but if I asked on the Corvette forum I would be burned at the stake. And I already know what there answers/replies would be.

Long story short Retired a few years ago. Had a 2016 C7 Z51 and traded for a 2018 ZL1. Fast forward, C8 about to come out and my preferred dealer had 30+ C7''s. Got a hell of a deal on a new 2019 C7 Grand Sport, below Employee Pricing and could use GM Mastercard points and traded the ZL1.

In February we ordered a 2021 Camaro 2SS 1LE. Well, we all know how that worked out. Still not here as of today. Tired of using my C7 as a DD. So I got a Silverado in late May. Was at my dealer last week and a new gray Tahoe RST was being unloaded. Looked really sharp. Told my wife about it. We both went up there the same day and before we got out of the car she said I want the Tahoe. Talked to the manager about that instead of the Camaro, he said no biggie, I can sell the ordered Camaro in a second. It is "In Transit" and he said he was getting 3 to 4 calls a day about it.

So my stupid question/dilemma is my C7 will be out of warranty next year. If given the opportunity would you rather have a C7 or new 2022 ZL1? Now I get I have had both. I love my C7 but I also loved my ZL1. I really miss the supercharger sound. Right now I can sell/trade the C7 for a little more than I paid. I can't get a C8 for at least 18-24 months (I will not pay the BS $20-$30K mark-up), but I do not want to wait another 8-9 months for a ordered Camaro again. The 2SS 1LE was going to be my wife's car so if I got a Camaro for me it would be a ZL1 again. UGH, on the fence, just looking for opinions, advice, help and some smart ass comments. Thanks in advance.

I went from a 16 SS to a C7. Love the car but also loved my very fast Magnuson SC Camaro. I have a few mods on the C7 and its pretty fast for the mods I have. I may at some point buy another Camaro if I can find the right deal. I do miss mine.

retired and in florida? you know the stereotypes will say vette

all kidding aside, for me it would be the zl1. not a fan of the c8. personally think the c7 is the best looking vette they have ever made. I'd choose the zl1 for the occasional storage needs and blower whine.

My wife had a 2016 and then a 2017 Chevy SS. Again, GM gets something right and pulls the plug. They were neat cars.

I would get a ZL1 but that’s me. It’s really your choice and what makes you happy. Personally I don’t care for Corvettes but again that’s me. Get what you want so you won’t have any regrets because you only live once and enjoy life. Good luck.

C7Z06 if you can fit comfortably in one...otherwise ZL1! Would much rather either one over a base C8.

ZL1 over regular C7. Hell I like my 1SS over the C7. I found the C7 had more road noise, harsher ride.....prefer the Camaro as it's more comfortable and performance is more than good enough for me.

I think I would go with the C7 Grand Sport over the ZL1.

This is tough because the c7 grand sport imho is the best drivers car out of all the c7’s. That being said unless you’re doing track days, I would trade it for a Zl1. You’re in Florida, correct me if I’m wrong but you do not have twisty roads there. Your roads are dead straight therefore the Zl1 makes more sense I think. I think personally I would choose the Zl1 for my situation as well. I just feel the camaro’s drive better. I’ve driven a stock and bolt on c7 z06. For the first time in gm’s late mode history, I prefer the camaro overall to the vette.

This is a Camaro/ZL1 forum so you know most are going to answer Camaro of course!

My wife and I rented a C7 vert for a week back when I had my 19' ZL1 a10 (non 1le) and we found the vette surprisingly more enjoyable to drive overall!

How about a best of both worlds and get a C7 Z06 or hold on to the vette until you can get a C8 at a reasonable price?

I probably should have drove a C7 Z06 before buying my ZL1. I love the ZL1 but have always preferred the Corvette platform when engine and trans are equal. I think what pushed me away from the C7 Z06 was the A8 transmission vs the A10 in the ZL1 and the superior cooling on the ZL1. If the Z06 had an A10 and better cooling, I think I would be driving one now. That being said I'm patiently waiting for the C8 Z06 to see if I keep the ZL1. Both are great choices though.

Had a base C7 M7, too many mods and could not keep it on the track.....overheating. Traded it for the ZL1, M6. Been thinking about getting into a C7 Z06 or a new ZL1 A10. Would love a C8, but I am not going through all the craziness associated with it. Used C7 prices are still ridiculous. Hopefully towards the end of the year, things will get back to normal, or close to it!
