SS 1LE - Remove Rotor Bolts
How have others removed the front rotor bolts that hold the calipers in place on an SS 1LE?
I have tried the following: 1. Hand Wrench (hahaha) 2. Bought an Impact Wrench that claims 250 ft lbs breakaway torque 3. Heat Gun and Impact Wrench Bolt hasn‘t even moved. Any tips? |

250ft lbs ain't enough. Return that impact driver and get the Dewalt 20V Max XR Impact Driver with 700 ft lbs torque & 1200ft of break away force. You'll thank me later. Strong enough for everything!

So, it's not uncommon for people to have a hard time removing the front caliper bolts. There is a good amount of torque there, and the access to get to the bolts is slightly awkward.
I've just used a good (stiff, robust design and of decent length) breaker-bar. I forget if I slid-on a portion of a jack handle to initially break the bolts loose. Slow, steady movement is better than fast, instantaneous movement on those bolts - I know of someone that stripped their front bolts as there is a good amount of factory thread-locker on those bolts. |
