Amount of gas to bring to track

So got my first track day in a couple weeks and was wondering how much extra has to bring, Will be running four 20 minute session on a 2 mile course in Palm beach, Was planning on taking an extra 5 gallons but was not sure if that would be enough.

Thanks

At average speed of 70mph, 20 minutes = 23 miles @ 5mpg = 4.7 gallons

You'll probably need gas after 2nd sessions +/-

I was at Watkins Glen (3.4mi) a couple weeks ago and was using a little more than 1/4 tank every 20 min session.

if you are only running four 20 minute sessions total, you *might* be ok with just 5 gallons if you start totally full. I would bring at least 10 gallons to be sure.

I take 3 five gallon tanks to the track and I usually start with half a tank. I do four 20 min sessions and always fill up after every session snice I don't like being less then half a tank on the track. I use all the 15 gallon I take and leave with more or less half a tank.

So start with roughly 10 gallon in tank use 15 from cans and leave track with roughly less then half a tank. So more or less I use 15 gallons.

Just keep in mind I have JRE125 package so problem waste more gas then stock.

Our cars must also have an amazing pickup. I ran my last session with the low fuel light on and never got fuel starvation. Very impressed

Agree: very good pick up. I do run it sometimes till fuel light goes on, but when it does i come off right away. No point taking a chance on fuel pump and possibly even motor damage.
Cheers!

Yeah unless your running E85 and have availability issues or are using race gas, just leave the track between sessions and fill up as necessary.

Depends how many sessions you want to do, but I would bring 10 gallons and adjust from there. I bring 15 myself.

Agreed. You *might* get away with no extra fuel if you arrive at the track with a 100% full tank. I would, in the least, bring 5 gallons extra if a fuel station is not close to the track.

What car and engine are you running? A '77 TransAm? Restomod car? It would be pretty hard for us to guess rate of consumption on a car like that.

3/4 of a tank is good for me all day... V6 is great that way.
For a V8 SS, a full tank plus an extra 5 gallon jug will probably get'r done.
