Beginner HPTuning...
Hey everyone, a little bit about my self I've been a Cyber Engineer for about 10 years and have a lot of IT experience but never with tuning cars. I have been toying with the idea of getting an HPTuner and tuning my own ZL1. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to even start for a beginner? Would be nice to do some tuning on my car by myself since I like overall working on my car. Thanks for any help!

Watch Greg Banish's videos on Gen V tuning. Good stuff.
I also did the Tuning School Gen V tuning school which was ok, at best.

Thanks for the suggestions! Does it sound like it's pretty easy to get used too and straightforward? Don't want to mess anything up.

If a beginner, I would NOT say it is easy in most any way. I'm not saying you, or anyone else could learn it, but don't expect to have your car fine-tuned within a month, or maybe even a year, if you're starting from scratch.
If you can understand the way the torque system functions and relates to all of the sub-systems, I'd say you have a good shot at being able to catch on. I started with Gen III stuff, and this Gen V stuff is crazy. I'm slowly putting a lot of it together, but trying to learn without either SERIOUS web browsing or spending many many hundreds of dollars on resources will take a LONG time. You'll find there is a point to where the really good tuners stop sharing (and for good reason), and that's where you'll likely need to most help. IMO - if you aren't in a hurry to get the most out of your set-up, you might try doing it yourself, as suggested above. You're a great risk of hurting the car if you go too far too fast, but if could be fun. I find it fun to do, and have started with base-type tunes, so I started safe, and did a lot of research (I have A LOT more to go...), and even reverse-engineered tunes I got professional help with for my car (and from other Members custom tunes, too), and learned a lot from those. If you ARE in a hurry, I'd look into a good shop you're comfortable with, and let them have at it. It won't be cheap, and there are lots of "tuners" that say they can help, but I think if you read enough on that forum, you'll start to see who the REAL tuners are, and have the best luck paying them to help you.
