My experience today at 1/2 Mile with Toyo r888r 325/30/20
Tires were just put on this week, replacing same tire in 315/30/20.
New PB-165.8 mph. Early in the morning they hooked great, but as the day wore on and clouds moved off some, hp went up and they spun some, especially with tc turned off. Crazy thing was on the way there with the whoops in the road I noticed no rubbing. On the way home with nothing different other then the 40lb sack with a hub adapter for the "modern spare" moved from the front of the trunk to the back the tires rubbed over the whoops which it never did with the 315/30/20, so I certainly wouldn't plan of jammin in the twisties with this size of Toyo's and my car is not lowered. Hope this info is helpful for others. Thanks! |

Usually its the height.. but those are 27.7 inches tall. Usually over 28.0 and you need to relocate the wires in the fender well. Stock 305's are 27.2 high and I haven't had any issues with 345 30 19 27.2 tall. I haven't tried them on my oem 19x12s 41mm offset but they didn't rub at all on my 19x11 38mm offsets after marker rims.
I know when they had the huge clearance on goodyear 285 35 20 27.9 inches tall I had to relocate our SS harness it rubbed the liner not sure if it would made it to harness but wasn't taken a chance.

I had already relocated the wiring harness. Sounds like it was rubbing in the top point of the liner. Had 3 guys and extra stuff in the trunk.

But...I only had 1 dead body, cmon man...ha!
After looking at it today, it was rubbing right at the edge of the fender. Wider and taller were not necessarily a good combo for this. I'm guessing the 325's did not gain me much of anything over the 315's other then the rubbing. Boo!!!! No more dead bodies in the trunk! |

Not to take the thread in a different direction but this 1/2 mile race is on my "to do" list. I checked it out last year and it seems like it was more "dig" than "roll" racing. Is that still the starting procedure? Did they mention approx date for the next event? The weather was pretty crappy here in the Valley, sounds like it was ok out in Gila Bend?
