2021/20 Exhaust different sound than 2017-2019?
I've been pouring over 1LE videos - thinking about selling my M4 mainly due to the exhaust. I was a former 3rd gen owner and really missing the V8 rumble.
Anyway, I heard a comment that the 2020/21 has more "pops" and "crackles" than the previous years. Did they change the exhaust, tune, etc.? I'm looking at a ~$10K difference between the years and I would rather pay more for the better stock exhaust note. Also, is there a difference between a regular SS and and SS/1LE exhaust note? |

No such thing as a 2014 M4. You have a 2015 I presume. They play the engine noise through the speakers which I find to be annoying.
As for Camaros:

pzoom, good luck with your 1LE quest As to exhaust tuning, it is different on the 2019+ Camaro, those cars have more pops and crackles, see these two threads where the specific tune changes are discussed: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...php?p=10715314 and https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563618 In addition, there are several youtube videos where you can observe the effect of these changes.

As well as microphones in the door panels: The 1SS 1LE (along with some 1LT/1LS) doesn't have the amp, and has covers behind the microphone grilles. |

Intereresting... I was not aware of this Active Noise Cancelation (ANC) thing. I had it in my Mustang EcoBoost and I tuned it out using FORScan, in order to be able to hear more the exhaust (I had an MBRP race). I wonder if tuning it out in the Camaro we would be able to hear more raw engine and exhaust noise. Or alternatively, can the ANC microphone be unplugged to the same result?

I get the feeling something is different in hardware too. My 19 (and other 19 1LEs I've heard going around track) seem to be MUCH louder than earlier models. I was told I almost blew sound totally stock at a 95db autocross event last year.
19+ 1LEs are even louder than ZL1 / ZLEs. Haven't had enough experience to know if 19+ ZLx models are louder too. |
