Camaros are cool!
And hot. And neat. And slick.
Well, basically, they're interesting in many ways. OK, let's show how -- whether it's Camaros in general, or a certain generation, or a certain year, or even if it's just your vehicle (i.e. customized). Note that it doesn't have to be something major; in fact, the minor details could be just as interesting. What do you find interesting? Is it something about the body, or interior, or engine, or electronics, or ...? If practical, include a picture.

I like that it has a 'hill assist' feature. It's my first experience with this.
Yes, I have a stick. I didn't see this stated anywhere in GM's liturature. I discovered it while driving, on a hill waiting at a red light. But, you have to keep your foot on the brake -- it lets off a few seconds after you let off the brake.

What it has: 505 N/A HP, 481 ft-lbs TQ, 6-spd manual and 3.91 gears. 12s in the 1/4 and a top speed over 170 mph. Just as cool what it ain't got: No back-up cam, no HUD, no power seats, no rev match or launch control. Do the 7 sec hold on the traction control and show 'em how its done. To drive this car properly takes old school driving skills. Probably nothing like this will ever be built again.

I just like how great the Camaro is at handling while providing a load of torque with the awesome LT1 engine. My impression of the Camaro was stuck at "probably can't handle" until someone raved about theirs on another forum and I did a little research. Welp, turns out my info is way outdated. A test at the local open lapping day just made me appreciate my car more and hope winter passes by quickly.
It's a good daily driver with all the comfort features as well as a great fun car out on the track. I also get a lot of attention and compliments with the Shock colour. If you want to talk about the little things, then here is my short list: - Power windows are fast. Reminds me of my RX-8 and that's great. - The little Camaro logos in the headlights are a neat touch. - The cooled and heated seats are automatic, and they get it right most of the time. - The centre vent temperature knob rings are pretty clever. As for hill start assist, while I appreciate it at times, I don't like how there is no way to turn it off. I used to have to work with cars with way less torquey with a stick shift. I did a road trip in Costa Rica about 3 years ago and we rented a Suzuki Jimny with about 80 HP with a 5-speed. Some of the hills there are pretty insane and there is no hill start assist, so it's just my good'ld skills. I would like to keep my hill start skills sharp. The 6-speed manual is great BTW, way better in terms of feels and reliability than the Getrash in the Mustangs.

I have an 18' ZLE and It's hard to describe this car to people.
You could take close to 1000 lbs out of this car and it would basically feel and perform like a dedicated race car, and feel like it belongs in some sort of American Iron racing series. Or you could put different dampers in it, and it would be a fantastic sport luxury car. It kinda has a dual personality. I actually enjoy driving it around town. The drivers seat is the most comfortable seat on my back of any I own (car or house) and it's turn in is close enough to my Lotus Elise that I haven't driven that car since buying this one. The car is very cool looking and unique. It's very rare. Most people have never seen one in person, or even know they exist, so they escape the "old guy" vette memes and despite being wild you get none of the supercar type hate jealousy driving it around. It's not uppity or pretensous at all. It's the common man's super car that legitimately can duke it out with supercars on the track. |

The suspension is what most intrigues me. I have never driven a car that is so composed and 'perfect' for cornering. It literally feels like the rear end is steering along with the front end.
Add in the MRC with that composure, and it's just incredible. Touring for a bit more cushion and sport/track when you want it firm and aggressive. Too cool. |

In my opinion, you can get very close to corvette performance for much less money with the camaro. This was true when I bought my 1994 z-28 and a corvette was about 38,000 dollars. It was true in 2017 when I purchased the 2ss. Camaro has always been a performance baragin.

Wow. I haven't thought of any of that. I won't be racing my vehicle, but it's interesting to think of stuff like this. I like that it's 'rare', which works with my plan for my car.

I love the Camaro (6th Gen, anyway) for the following reasons:
-Unique, dare I say "rare" for some areas - its NOT a Mustang or Corvette -Exterior color options - yellow is on of my favorites (not available for many vehicles) -LOVE that it is one of the few cars that still has a MOTOR in it ~~ 6.2L ~~ -LOVE the sound & power -6 speed - again, manual is becoming a thing of the past -RWD -Attitude/overall feel of the car. It can be quite comfortable for daily life, but retains the track DNA. - the little luxuries, even though it is a "sports/muscle" car.. flat bottomed heated wheel, heated/ventilated seats, the unique interior lighting, illuminated door sills, HUD is cool -For the available options, sporty/muscle looks, power, performance... the car is undoubtedly a bargain. I'm not saying it is cheap - but there is certainly value considering the contenders the Camaro CAN RUN WITH (in some cases outrun)! Last edited by zaimer; 11-16-2020 at 01:44 PM. |
