ZL1 vs ZLE Front Fenders

Hi all,

Before I go buy myself a set of spare fenders here, I’d like to ask the age old question that I still haven’t quite found definitive answers to: are ZL1 and ZL1 1LE fenders the same? I’m staring at the GM Parts Direct catalog right now and I want to make sure I’m buying the right parts! Thank you very much for reading and thank you in advance for any knowledge you may share.

The front bumper and all the parts that go with it should be the only difference in the body of the ZL1's.

So I take it it’s the same then? Thank you for your answer by the way!

I don't want to confuse you but, I remember reading somewhere that although the fender is the same shape, the mounts are different.

What I would do to make my life easier and be 100% sure is call your local dealer and ask them for part numbers for your vin.

Can't go wrong with that. Unless the parts guy behind the desk is a clown, that's always a possibility.

ZL1 and ZL1 1LE have exact same fenders and mounting.

SS Camaro's have same fenders, but different mounting.

Best regards,
Dave

Maybe this is what I saw.

I'd still call the dealership and get the part numbers from them.

Or if you order on line, most websites will ask you for your VIN to ensure fitment.

I believe the front bumper is the same, but the grille and splitter (and attachments) are different.

this. bumper is the same. zle bumper has the slits cut out for the dive planes. 18+ bumpers (all of them if I'm not mistaken) have the spots on the back marked to cut the slits. grill + splitter are different. "fog light" pieces are different.

fenders are the same across the cars, but zl1+ zle are mounted different than the other models.

ZL1 and ZLE fenders are the same. The ZL1 fenders are wider than the SS fenders and have a different part number. Check any part site.

That’s what I read that the ZL1/ZLE fenders are a tad wider than the SS fenders due to the wider wheels/tires.

As to the responses above. There was a thread about this a while ago. The conclusion was the mounting points are different. Not in the sense as they mount in different brackets, but in the sense the zl1 fenders have longer attachment points than the SS ones do, which makes them have a wide appearance. They are technically "wider" but they are the exact same shape and all the curves are the same, they are just further out. With that comes the added width of the bumper on the zl1's but that is also the same and the zle. This has been tested and proven, so the people that are saying they are different are correct in a sense, but you could quite literally take SS fenders and drill new holes to be exact replicas of the Zl1 fenders.
