ZLE couldn't get track alignment done to spec
So took my car to the dealership to get it track aligned, they couldn't get the fronts past 2.2 Claimed they called GM and that the GM specialist told them things have to be drilled to hit the 2.7. Sounds like a lot of people didn't know what they were doing to me. Did some searches here, couldn't find anyone saying they had problems with the specs in the performance manual.

Had my new, bone stock ZLE track aligned about a month ago. I asked for the OEM values and I got -2.8L and -2.9R. And there is more room.
I wonder if they tried to adjust your camber while it was in the street orientation. Makes sense you couldn't get more than 2.2 in that position. I think the B team aligned your car. Maybe the C team. |

I agree. With the hats rotated to Track position, I doubt I could get as low as 2.2 on my car.

Run out to your garage and check the strut top mount and see if "street camber" or "track camber" is visible.

Find another alignment shop-- they have no clue-- it says in the high performance manual how to turn camber plates. If they werent smart enough to do it get your money back! when i turned my camber plates around myself I was at -3.5 they actually have to take some out-- i'm now at -2.9 front and -2.0 rear

Yeah I see track camber is still on the engine bay side instead of rotated out to the wheel side.

Yep. They didn't rotate the top mount and tried to ring out as much negative camber as possible. When you get around to rotating the top mount to the correct orientation, you are going to have -3.2 or more camber. You will need to adjust your toe again as well. Sounds like a do-over at another shop.

That is sad but not surprising to me at this point, a dealer working on a ZLE didn't know about rotating DSSV camber plates. And the suggested DRILLING your car. The top mount holes are already somewhat eccentric, using all of that with Track rotated plates has gotten some people at -3.5.
So few Chevy dealers can be trusted working on ZL1s and Corvettes. |
