Cool Touch Screen Brightness?

2019 1SS Convertible; In settings I have the DISPLAY Mode in "day" mode (auto, day or night) and the touch screen doesn't change. I seems to be stuck in night mode. The interior light knob is turned up all the way and the exterior lights do work normally in the AUTO mode. The DCi and dash display does change via the sensor on the dash.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I bought the car in November and around January it did a software update. Just checked the software update feature and it's up to date.

I had this issue of it going into night mode all the time. Found out the culprit was the radar detectorI mounted on top of the dash attached to the windscreen was over shadowing the sensor that's right in between the dash console. Moved the position of the detector and voila problem solved. Check and see if something is blocking the sensor in your car. It bugged me forever till I finally realized why it was doing that.
Hope this helps.

Try setting in back to AUTO for a few starts of the car and see what happens. If that doesn't help, try moving it to NIGHT for a couple of starts and then go back to either AUTO or DAY. Sounds like there's something out of whack in the stored settings.

Have the battery checked as issues in the electrical system show up in all kinds of weird ways. Would recommend having a dealership test it as they should have the correct equipment to test properly.

A further check. This is at "Settings, Display, Mode". Yesterday morning the touch screen was in day mode. When I wrote this post it was in night mode because it was at dusk. I can only tell by the brightness. It seems the display brightness changes by Auto but the "Day or Night" setting doesn't override as expected.

I may try to do a factory restore and then try the suggestion as above. It's no big deal just at times the screen it too dark.

It should override and it sounds like that isn't happening. Does the screen brightness adjust correctly based on being in AUTO mode? Is it only the override settings that don't do what's expected?

Ember - Yes that is correct. I have the same prob in a 2023 ZL1. Auto works correctly, Day and Night do not override the Auto function. Ideas now 4 years after your post?
