Do ZL1 and ZL1 1LE have the same “modes”

Do ZL1 and ZL1 1LE have the same track, sport, etc modes? And just tuned differently for the ZLE? And is the ZLE LSD tunes differently? I ask because my friend said I’m wasting money on a ZLE. I’m getting mixed answers when searching.

Thanks

All the same. Find a new friend, you're wasting your time listening to that one.

Not really a friend. More like a track acquaintance. I drove his ZL1 which made me want a 1LE to replace my 981 GT4. But he said a ZL1 is basically the same as a ZLE just suspension and aero. But everything else is the same.

Yep, just a few changes...

Upper camber plates
Bushings
Multimatic DSSV shocks
Adjustable rear sway bar
Adjustable front ride height
19” wheels
ZLE specific tires
Aero at the front and rear
6spd transmission with shorter 6th gear

It has a significant change in track capability

A10 ZLE gets a different transmission track mode calibration

"For the ZL1 1LE, this transmission gets a new Track Mode calibration, and the way it interacts with Chevy's clever Performance Traction Management system and electronic limited-slip differential has also been changed. There's also a new oil pan for the transmission and additional cooling added for the steering gear, and Chevy even modified the ZL1 1LE's Multimatic DSSV shocks to deal with the quicker shifts of the auto. But beyond that, this is the same thing that's available in the regular ZL1."

While technically all the above is true from what I've read/seen, it seems some of those upgrades are more effective than others. A Member here has done some testing, starting with a ZL1, and pretty much changed over to ZLE suspension (with ZLE tires, too, if I recall) and found not much appreciable difference, so far, around a track. Now, this is an M6-car, so there's no calibration difference for the A10, and I don't think there was a difference for the eLSD, so it's not all scientific, but as close a possible/reasonable. Having said all that, I wouldn't leave someone to think I was diminishing ZLE, and if you just want the best track Camaro with a warranty, there's no argument against ZLE. But it seems like you can get A-LOT-to-most-of what ZLE is from switching over to better-than-stock ZL1 tires for near the same performance (and it does seem somewhat small, depending on your perspective).

For some people, giving up a nicer ride on the street isn't worth the cost you pay with ZLE, but for others, they don't care because it's not a big deal, or they aren't driving it much on the street. Camaro Team never said ZLE was a street car... It's a track weapon.

Since they now have the GY SC3Rs in stock ZL1 sizes, it is a straight forward change. That will give a fair amount of the grip of the ZL1 1LE without having the harshness of the DSSV suspension.

Before the flaming starts, I am not contending that just changing tires makes the ZL1 into a ZL1 1LE.

That ZLE will beat you to hell on the streets. Just buy the aero like I did and put it on a ZL1. Yea I’m that guy KEKW

If you are tracking go the ZLE for sure. The ZL1 is better on the streets and in a straight line. The ZLE certainly wins in looks and track performance.

Be sure and use the 15w-50 oil of you use the 3Rs or as sticky on the ZL1 when you track it.

Yes this as far as the software changes go that I can tell. Ive owned both a ZL1 and now a 1LE both with an A10.

The 1LE's A10 changes its level of aggressiveness to the touring sport and tack modes over what the base ZL1 does.

Steering feel is the same between the 2 cars when changing settings. (I leave mine in street across all modes as I like the light wheel feel.)

All things being equal I was 2.8 seconds faster on my overall fast lap on a 1.6 mile track with the ZLE my first day out with it. My 2nd event 2 weeks later at the same track I went 9/10ths of a second faster on top of my previous gains.

The car just gives you an extreme amount of confidence that I didn't have with the base ZL1.

I'm confused then, the different modes on the non-1LE also affect the magnetic ride that changes the shock rates.
It was my understanding the shocks could not be adjusted on the 1LE except for ride height.
Am I wrong on that......

No. There are no adjustments, other than the manual ones, for the DSSV setup on the ZLE. I am not sure that I followed or caught if there are any changes to the setup of the eLSD. I think the modes stay the same, but I am not sure if the calibration is the same. Steering feel / weight is changed by the mode selector in both models.
