Ave alignment price?

I have a 2ss with stock wheels and tires (245/275) Am upgrading to 1le wheels and tires (285/305) and looking to have 1le track specs dialed in. I'm at the dealership and they quoted me $200. A regular alignment is $150. They also told me to wait until I get my new wheels and tires put on as the alignment may change.

1) Does $200 seem high?
2) Does changing wheels and tires effect alignments?

I just had my track alignment done two weeks ago at the dealer and it was 89 dollars plus tax. They are over charging you unless they are replacing the one time use bolts.

It seems fairly high, but I have heard of dealerships charging that much for alignments. I have camber plates and had mine done at a performance shop for $150. On past cars they've charged $120.

You'll always overpay at a dealer, yes $150 is high, $200 is nuts.

I called a performance shop near me in Columbus. They quoted me $139. Still high but better apparently.

Lol. The dealership told me it'd be $200 every time.
Lord.

I wasn't planning on going there. I just thought I'd inquire and get a feel.

For $200 you can get a lifetime alignment if you want to deal with Firestone.

Allen?

Would Firestone be recommended for our cars? I'm a bit leery of that..

I always get my alignments done at a race shop. While on the pricier side, they have the laser 4 wheel racks.

I usually walk out of there about $250 lighter in the wallet, but I also leave with very precise alignment specs.

I was a bit leery of it too but it has already at least paid for itself in my case and they have better hours than most shops/dealerships especially on the weekends. Definitely show up in person and talk with the employees before paying to make sure they are ok with doing the track alignment on your specific car and be ready to tell the tech how to max the front camber in case they don't know (back both of the nuts on each side almost all the way off then hit the bolts with a hammer to disengage the splines and push on the top of the wheel) and give them the correct bolt to borrow to help hold the camber in place when they are matching it side to side on the front. If you are lowered and/or have a front splitter (SS 1LE for example) you may need to bring boards to help clear the alignment rack's slope which each specific location and person working each visit may or may not allow. Or if you are lucky they will have an in ground alignment rack with no sloped front to drive up. The racks are hunter with laser measurement for each wheel so very accurate.

I like that they let me stand next to the rack to watch and talk with the tech but ymmv. With a dealership they probably just take your car back somewhere where you can't see it and you just hope that they use the right alignment specs and torque values and don't damage your car. I'm in Columbus and ended up just going to Jack Maxton to get my alignment done. They had a special running for $79 and they got me close to the alignment specs I asked for (at the expense of my front splitter lol). No way an alignment is worth over 120 IMO, even NTB will do a respectable job.
