anyone have any tips for using the POS USB GM factory shop manual

you cant print to file anymore. it just says file corrupted. you can still print stuff out. Its a major pain to get it to load up. you have to click on the unlocker and then try to open the file which tells you its corrupt most of the time. After you try it who knows how many time it will open. windows 10

I should have bought a ZL1

Hey JC, why don’t you get a hard copy of the manual. Doesn’t Helm Inc. have them listed?

I used to always get the Helms manual for all my cars, but the full sets used to be around $100 or so if I remember correctly. $350 for USB or $475 for the hard copy is a bit much and makes some of the other sites that "rent" the shop manual info, TSB's, etc a more attractive option to me. I think they are essentially trying to push the market to the rent options with the excessively high price on these.

I always used Helm too right up to the purchase of the Camaro.
I think that our Cruze's manual set (the last one I bought, a stack almost 6" thick) was on the order of $195.
But when I went to buy one for the Camaro and saw the price I balked.

So at the time I located a place that offered an unlocked e-copy download for around $30.
It is a bit over 13,000 pages as I recall, and can be slightly difficult to navigate because the index links are not that good.
So I have to search by name using the .pdf reader's search function (hey, you get what you pay for).
Plus it only covers the 2016/2017 model years and contains a lot of repeated information.
But despite all of those deficiencies it has been a blessing to have and I print sections from it all the time for repair jobs.

I think this might the same place I obtained it-
https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....epair?a=538270
It looks like the file is smaller than mine and claims to have working links now.
And the price is lower than I recall.
So it may not be the same exact one I have.

I think this is the one I have-
https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....service-manual

There is also this as a possible source-
https://archive.org/details/car-serv...et-2017-camaro

I caution that it isn't the greatest, but it is much better than nothing IMHO.

Download Foxit Reader. Woks much better with the USB manual than Adobe.

It still won't print though

If it is really 13,000 pages long 475 bucks isn’t that bad. Less than 4 cents a page

I totally agree with that sentiment actually, and I have been a loyal Helm manual buyer for more than 40 years and for 20+ vehicles.
But for the number of times I am likely to use the Camaro manual it was just not possible to justify the current cost.
If they had offered a downloadable version even for as much as $150 I would have purchased it from them.
But they didn't.
Plus had I purchased the printed set I would have had yet another foot thick stack of printed manuals sitting on the shelf.
So a downloadable e-copy is the only way to go nowadays.

It is a bit of paper. Eight volumes. I had the dealer include it as part of the sale. They ended up giving me a credit on the price of the car as it was not available yet at the time.
