Body damage repair question

So I have a 2017 2LT with RS Package had some storm damage from a tree hitting my car my insurance is covering it (supposedly $10,700 in damage) when looking at the estimate I find two things that are concerning:

1. A/M CAPA Bumper cover w/o performance package

Is the RS package not a performance package? whats the difference between a bumper cover with and without performance package?

2. LKQ Windshield GM, w/o head-up display all +25%

ok so there was damage to my windshield and that has to be replaced, but what does it mean w/o heads up display? my car has the heads up display and last i checked thats projector built into the console/dashboard that projects on your windshield, the windshield itself is just glass, what does replacing that glass have to do with your heads up display? Isnt the point of insurance to get your vehicle back to the condition it was in PRE accident? Removing things is definitely not getting it back to how it was wouldnt you say?

As far as I think I know the front glass is particular for the HUD and it's not just glass as would be other non HUD cars.

For the windshield you WILL need to have it HUD compatible. Talk with your insurance company about this.

For the front bumper, no the RS package is not a performance package, but check with them if they got a basic non-RS bumper (without the chrome pieces).

Number 1: The "performance package" probably means the SS cars. A/M CAPA is aftermarket bumper so it won't be genuine GM.

Number 2: If you have HUD, then you will need the proper (HUD) style windshield which is a lot more expensive. If you install a non-HUD windshield, the display being projected will be slightly blurry I believe. LKQ means aftermarket windshield as well.

Agree with both. You can insist they install no after market parts. You will probably never tell the difference but fit on a plastic bumper there is a chance it doesnt fit as well as the GM part. i would also make sure the body shop is going to blend the paint on all replacement parts.

There’s been a few threads on the forum about the windshield. Not only MUST you have the windshield designed for HUD if you have it, many owners on here have even had problems with aftermarket windshield that are not sourced as genuine, authentic General Motors OEM windshields. Some mfgs do not have the proper focus and alignment of the reflective adhesive that makes your HID clear and straight.

You need to contact the claims adjustor that looked over your car and tell him/her your concerns about the windshield and front bumper repairs before the claim is settled. Yes you will have to have a windshield that is compatible with HUD to function right and I’m not sure about what you are asking about the front bumper but the parts will probably be replaced with OEM type parts whether GM or Keystone or reconditioned OEM.

You should be able to get GM parts, I was able to on my 17 RS by talking to my adjuster and explaining that I purchased my car new with GM parts I would like my repair with GM parts and she made it happen
