Paint protection spray film
I have been trouble finding anyone in my area that installs PPF. The local installer here did not feel comfortable doing the grill on my ZL1. He recommended doing a paint protection spray on film that a company does in a neighboring state. Does anybody have any info on this? Can't seam to find much info or reviews on it.

I tried to get some of the 3M defender but was having trouble finding it.
I purchased Liquid Shield at https://getliquidshield.com/ Looks to be the same type product but have not had a chance to try it yet. |

It’s not a permanent solution like the film. They may say it is , but it weathers much quicker than a film
Go to the XPel site and see who installs it near nearest to you. Then take it down there and get it done right once. xpel uses a pattern for the front end of the car which makes it a lot better than cut to fit film installers. |

Nearest Expel installer is 3.5 hours away and they said they would need the car for at least 2.5 days. Not real convenient.

about 5 years ago we tried a spray on product on our track only cars - within a year it had yellowed badley and looked really poor - product worked fine other than that, but when yellowed went to take off, ended up having to sand it off and repaint the bumper -
Sure products today are better - but I would do my homework on the "take off" process, before you spray it on. If it is a sand and repaint - might as well just not put anything on, or make the drive for PFF. Good luck finding good solution! |

I haven't done this on the zl1 but my old tundra i used clear plastidip, went on with like 6 coats and then used glossifier. It actually looked decent and saved all the chrome from pitting and getting sand blasted. Obviously not in the same ball park as PPF. It does add some protection, is super cheap and easy and it is completely removable without damage.....
