What is causing this?

Hey all!

Recently I have noticed that when I try and give my car full acceleration that after a few seconds the car almost jerks backwards and it throws my head forward.

What could be causing this?

Usually I can get the help I need from Camaro6, but I suppose ill just take it in to the dealership and ask them to duplicate the issue.

I am not sure how else to explain the issue except maybe the car just suddenly stops after a few seconds of full acceleration and it throws me forward.

Thanks anyways.

Does it come out of gear and go into neutral?

Sounds like a serious miss, maybe a fuel starvation or electrical issue, not much else it could be..

That's a tough one! Hard to tell by your description. Take a dealer mechanic for a ride to replicate the problem and let them fix it, is my 2 cents. Good luck!

Are you hitting the Rev Limiter?

I accidentally hit mine yesterday with my A10 in manual mode (tad late on the 1-2 shift), totally cuts fuel and falls on it's face... It was quite dramatic...

Look on the left on the dash indictor. Does the traction control light come on. Sometimes when you floor it,if it spins a certin amount traction control will kick in and close the throttle then it release and the car pulls hard forward. So to recap. You floor it starts to take off then falls on its face for a second or 2 then takes off. Turn traction control off and see if it corrects the problem.

Definitely need more details about your car and the symptoms. Manual or Auto trans? What drive mode are you in? TC on or off? SC on or off? etc etc

Important question is manual or automatic?

What you're describing, as others have said sounds exactly like what happens when you hit the rev limiter. While I haven't hit it yet in my 6th gen, it was among the first thing I experienced in my 5th gen.

If it's automatic, and you're not in manual mode, then it could be a problem as transmission should not let you hit the rev limiter.

Sounds like he's missing a gear and throwing it in reverse?
