New valve covers at what point?

Just a random question to save me some time. Does anyone know at what point you need taller valve covers?

I have not heard of people putting on taller valve covers, but I've seen where they have put shorter ones on in order to accommodate a supercharger.

when you upgrade to a bigger rocker arm. in most cases you can just use a spacer
