6gen Camaro ZL1 Oil Catch Cans

I am a new Camaro ZL1 owner. The car will be used a daily/ street driver.
I want to buy a oil catch can for it. I do plan on keeping this car for a lifetime and want the best for it. there are catch cans with breathers and some without. So my question is what is the best oil catch can for a stock/ lightly moded ZL1?

First be aware you have to pull the blower on these cars to add one. Consider that before you decide if its worth it to you.

Second make sure the addition of a can will not void your warranty.

Any catch can can void your warranty, if the dealer and GM decides to.

IMHO if the car is stock, don't install a catch can. My car consumes no oil, even under heavy use at the track.

If you modify with a new blower, run higher boost, and add a lot more power, etc go ahead and add one--at that point it wont matter

I have a stock ZL-1, with an Elite Engineering catch can. It captures a surprising amount of goo, that I drain out every 1500 miles or so. I also plan to keep my car for a long time.

My dealer told me if I had an engine issue, they would remove the can before submitting any engine warranty work to GM. They have my back on this car, but other dealers might not. I have had them install BMR suspension components and a cat back exhaust, so I'm covered. YMMV.

Elite Engineering can is what I have and I couldn't be happier with it. Catches a ton of crap, I definitely would get a catch can if you plan on keeping the car.

You have to lift the blower off the top of the motor to gain access to the front of the engine for install but it's not hard to do. I lifter the blower and wedged a square piece of wood 2 or 3 inches high between the blower and the motor. That's all the lifting I needed to do to install the can.

Not needed. I pulled my Lid and it was a total waste of time.

Elite. The design and quality of the components is excellent. The install is a bit of trial and error, but the degree of difficulty is low, just takes patience. With a DI engine, I feel just a little bit better every time I drain my EE catch can knowing that stuff is not hitting my valves.

If you are going to mod for big power, then yeah go for it.

Otherwise if you're staying stock, don't waste your money. Spend your $$ on some good daily street tires instead.

I have the mighty mouse catch can on my 2018. To be honest I don't think you need one until you do a lot of mods. When I pulled the S/C lid I didnt notice any oil on the blower and that is at 6000 miles. I now have 8500 miles and there is no oil in the catch can. This is on the mods listed in my signature. Spend the money on something else.

agree 100%.

I'd rather that oily mess get collected on the catch can instead of on the valves.

I just don't understand how some of us get lots of oil in our catch cans and others don't. I know the way you drive the car makes a difference, but i'm not pounding on my car like a madman and I still get lots of blow by.

By the way, I think those that are basing their decisions on catch cans for the ZL1 by gauging the amount of oil inside the supercharger are looking in the wrong spot.

I didn't have a lot of oil under my supercharger lid when I did the catch can install but my catch can had lots of oil in it last fall when I did my oil change.

The blow by is a thing in these engines.
