I have never seen a Camaro Car Corral...

... at any of the sports car races. Until now with the Detroit Grand Prix:

I organized a Camaro corral at Watkins Glen for the Sahlen 6 Hour weekend from 2012-2015. About 40 cars in '12, only 3 in '15. I got a lot of help from the track and Chevrolet in the beginning. Towards the end not so much. In 2012 they sent their ZL1 vert show car for us to display. John Fitzpatrick picked it up from a local dealer they shipped it to and brought it to the corral and hung out with us for the afternoon. Got to know the guys at Mitchum and Stevenson, and Lawson Aschenbach pretty well. I have also been to Camaro corrals at mid-Ohio and Indy. But sadly with the demise of the Camaro in road racing the past few years it's hard to get people interested. At least there a couple of teams back in GS now so maybe interest will grow again. Now that I'm in NC I would like to see a corral at VIR for the race in August.

The Car Corral at the DGP has allowed Camaro's to park with the other GM cars in the corral for the last two years. There are also area's for Porsche's, and other makes as well.

Right, there are usually "generic" car corrals at most races, including the Detroit Grand Prix or you "sneak in" with a different car of the same car company.

The point is that there is a listing specifically for Camaro.

The car corral at the DGP is usually in a large field except for last year when the heavy rains made the field way to soggy to park in so they re-located the Car Corral parking to along the rod at the north end of the island but then provided a shuttle bus from the parking area to the gate and it ran all day.

The Car Corral is divided into specific areas for each make of car. All the Corvettes park together in one area, The Porches's all park in another area, etc, etc. Camaro's have their own area to park in. Each area has a flag to show what cars park where.

Back in 2018 when the created an area for Camaro's, we were notified that IF we could get 25 or more club (Motor City Camaro Club) cars to attend, they would use our club banner in place of their generic flag to designate the Camaro area.

Unfortunatly we fell short of the 25 club car quota so the just used a generic GM flag.

Camaro's at the 2018 Car Corral.

Last year didn't work out to good with the flooding. We had to park on the other side of the island and shuttle to the race. Normally the corral is a perfect spot to park. You can leave a cooler in your car and grab some lunch and beer at the corral.
