Muffler Delete

Did a muffler delete today in the garage, order some parts off EBAY.

What I found out.

I used my own extra clamps that where better then the ones that came with the catback exhaust. The pipes lined up pretty good but not perfect because the system I order directly from the manufacturer was for a dual exhaust not a quad exhaust. I just order black quad tips and clamped them on.

It was cheaper to order the dual then the quad set-up.

In order to get the tips in a perfect position I will have to take it to the exhaust shop in order to adjust the hangers so it fits perfect, it’s just hanging a bit low with the tips. While I am there I will get the tips welded on instead of clamps. Overall I happy with DIY install, I will evaluate to see if I have to add some DBX Flowmaster mufflers in the future. I just like the look of the rear of car without the suit case muffler. The NPP is nice to have but I drive around always in track mode anyways.

PS: I have some nice Chrome tips for a dual set up if interested.

Keep in mind doing a muffler delete, removes the large suit case muffler which helps direct air out of the back. Without that muffler, your rear valance will catch a lot of air and can slow the car down.

Well maybe the weight reduction will offset that. Not sure if I have heard of anyone really worried about that but possible. I am not worried about it that much I am not tracking it for competition. I Didn’t notice any problems with a similar setup drag racing my 2016 Camaro SS. Not to worried about it the COPO doesn’t have the suitcase mufflers and the only thing back there is the wheelie bars. So if they are not worried about it, then I am not worried about it.

I will put a spare tire up there to fill the void. Just kidding

I'm putting the twin bullet resonator Borla 60608 onto my stock exhaust just so I can hear my teeth rattling around because of my cam, so that would be 4 cats, two resonators and the factory muffler and it is still HECK of loud.
https://youtu.be/AfoP1LPXdUo

If I could I'd bolt a second factory suitcase back there and make a twin loop:

I don't know what you younguns are thinking??

I really don’t understand your reply to my post, I am just posting what I have done to my exhaust.

I have done the CAM, stainless steel, high Ram, Nitrous, 103TB, headers, 2step, etc on my 2016 SS. Just doing the the exhaust on my 2019 and that’s it.

BTW Oldman I am 58 yrs old and I do feel young.

There are a lot of muffler delete stock videos on YouTube. Mine should be no different.

I will post a video in about 10 days after I get all the hangers welded into place. No rush till warmer weather. I just grinded off the muffler hangers off the suitcase since I only have one hanger in place as off now.

This^ I did the muffler delete and ended up cutting the center of the valance out. I went out and made a few pulls and just driving I could tell the difference between having the center of it cutout and keeping it in place. Ryan Stephens from Gwatney Performance also recommends it. Causes enough drag to give up 2-3mph in the 1/4

Finally got the tips welded into the correct position the other day. I didn’t like the straight pipe muffler delete sound. I added some flowmaster Super 10’s, will get some sound videos out. I miss my 2016 SS cam sound with headers, I will not be able to get near that sound.

You going back down the rabbit hole fast. I remember you saying this car wasn't getting modded. Lol Heads/cam here we come. Just make sure to go Pray or GPI this time around.

Lol, I have requested a rabbit trap to save me. You have to admit that the Camaro does not suit the stock muffler set-up IMO.

We will see what happens, trying to use the force. Resist the urge to go farther then then exhaust. I am enjoying the manual over the A8, so that’s a plus.
