Anderson Composite type AZ Carbon Fiber Hood
I'm about to buy an Anderson Composite type AZ Carbon Fiber Hood but i have a rotofab cold air intake on the car, any suggestions on how i can seal the cai now that the hood will leave some space?

I’d suggest you PM Sledgehammer70 here or send him a DM on Instagram. He just installed this hood.

Yea I asked him. He said he didn't seal it he had it tuned to make up for the air loss. I'm thinking of possibly getting some underhood liner and making a cover for the cai and fabricate it to fit over the cai??..

Get playdoh and set it on the "hood front", "bend" and "fender side" of the filter housing, then close the hood. That will squish the playdoh and you'll be able to measure the gap between the hood and the filter housing.
Post the results and we can figure out how to fix it once we know how much needs to be fixed. |

How about cut out a card board template for the top of roto fab unit and make a top out of sheet metal, plexiglass, or plastic. I would go with the plexiglass so you could see it and fasten it down with a few clips.

All Great ideas. I like the play-doh idea. That will give me an idea of how much space i have to fill. Then fabricate something. Open to any other suggestions or if someone did this already. I will update!

I installed the hood yesterday. I had to adjust the hood a few times where it's screwed on to get it even. Also had to adjust the rubber hood stops to conform to this hood. There are 4 of them. I put toothpaste on the hood stops and closed the hood. I turned the hood stops in or out depending on if they were touching or not or out too much. Im going to look at the spacing between the rotofab and the hood today. Didn't have time yesterday.

I checked the spacing between the cai and the hood using playdoh. I found for the most part just the middle of the cai wasnt sealing. I used a piece of the thermal insulation i used for the rest of the hood to seal it by sticking that piece to the existing thermal insulation liner i put on.
You can find the liner here at Amazon $29.99. Plenty for the whole hood and a little extra. I also used insulation tape to make the edges of the insulation look clean. I bought the tape from Lowes. I recommend putting the insulation on the hood with the hood off. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Last edited by Yellow Beast; 02-24-2020 at 09:48 AM. |
