Kooks 2" headers heat insulation/spark plug wires for round course?
Hi all
I am currently installing a set of Kooks 2" headers that are ceramic coated. I wondered which head insulation is needed to protect the starter. As I use my car on the road course, there will be a lot of heat generated? Also, what are people using with regards to spark plug wires? I assume the OEM one's will melt being that close to the 2" header? Many thanks for any help! cirpower |

OEM wires have better (lower) impedance values than most of the aftermarket ones. You can buy sleeves to help.

Ive had no problems with my OEM wires with my 2inch headers. They dont touch, but id like to get sleeves eventually.

use oem wires with sleeves. Hopefully, you can use the metal heat shield around the plug with your headers. Some have struggled at VIR with burning wires that are close.

Agree as posted above OEM wires have close to Zero resistance nit worth the upgrade. Just sleeve them with heat shield.

I’m using sleeves and msd wires. The oem wires were fine but I wanted to maximize the distance from the tubes.

There was also a post recently by someone who melted the bottom of the coolant reservoir and had to apply a heat shield to the bottom of the new one. He had ARH 2” (coated) and was on a road course. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564875

Hi all, I am struggling to get the wires connected to the spark plug with the oem metal heat shield and the sleeves. Any tips? Do I need to cut off the springs that sit at the front of the metal protectors or leave them away completely? cheers Cirpower

I run the Speed Engineering Wires and Ngk plugs, best I've found and I've run MSD, Taylor and others.
