94.8 decibels?

I was at laguna seca last weekend for a hpde and got dinged for being too loud. The exhaust is stock. I have to let off and shift early by the sound booth to keep driving without getting kicked off. What have you done to quiet down your exhaust? I was driving in track mode, but I don’t think that matters at WOT.

You have to lift unfortunately. Or get exhaust mods to quiet it down further for LS. I blew 96.8 there once with my SS 1LE stock exhaust. Now that I have a ZLE with AWE I really have to figure something out..

Some of the "Laguna Pipes" look like they are over the top just to make a statement.

Did you try manually putting the exhaust in stealth mode? I had to do that because I blew sound at Sears. (No cats and a whipple make a lot of noise.)

The manual warns against running track in stealth mode. Just an fyi.

I set the npp to tour and then just let off and short shifted up the hill in 4th. Wish I knew how high I could rev in 3rd before it hits 90 dB.

Running the exhaust in other than track mode is not a good idea...

Not my pic, but from another thread here on the subject:

I have the same problem with a 95dB local track, and have not yet found a solution.

I believe the story with that one is he modded his to stay shut in stealth mode. Stealth mode stock will still open up at a WOT to prevent too much back pressure. This guy over rode that somehow and blew up his muffler.

I took a page out of the Z06 guys I ran with in Az and made up two different designs that I can quickly install giving me two different levels of sound reduction depending on what I need. Here is one of the designs installed that give me a minimal redux in sound. I don't have pictures of the other set, but they go straight out as an insert with some sound baffling material inside.

Well, GM specifically warns about NOT running it WOT in Stealth, so i suspect it is a bit more complex in terms of possible outcomes. Either way, other solutions exist to deal with the problem.
