Feel like a traitor

Well I had a 2015 Mustang Ecoboost which was totaled by an unlicensed driver last week. I began shopping for used Mustang GTs being a die hard Ford guy. Well I drove by and saw a Camaro 2SS sitting on a dealership lot. Curiosity got the best of me and I took it out and wow I was impressed. Just the sound of the engine starting up was amazing. The visibility was not as good as my mustang, but I adjusted the seat and mirrors and it wasn’t bad. So yes I might be in the market for a 2SS after swearing off GM cars over 20 yrs ago.

I've seen a lot of these posts, lol...

I think it's best to be brand agnostic and choose based on what's currently available. All manufacturers make mistakes in both design and customer service.

IMO, Camaro is the car if you value overall performance. It's a bit on the large side, long doors, visibility, but I don't care that much about those things in a performance car. I trust Ford a bit less vs GM, but I think it's buyer beware in the car market. You can get a lemon anywhere.

Going from an Ecoboost Mustang to a 2SS V8 Camaro is obviously going to be a massive difference.

Pull the trigger if you can swing it, there are some great deals to be had this time of the year. Now that you've experienced how this chassis feels, how the LT1 sounds and throws you back already at under 2k rpm, you already want in anyway

This is indeed just a car in some sense, yes, nobody is a "traitor" for coming over (or back) to the Camaro side of the world to experience a sublime, yet affordable driving experience, or even reaching for a Mustang to get... slightly better visibility and a bit of extra oomph at high rpms.

Nevertheless, the whole idea of being a car guy and enjoying a muscle/sports car to the fullest necessarily entails an emotional connection, which is absolutely no problem---actually it's kind of the point. These cars aren't practical in the Prius and the Accord sense of the word, they are an expression of freedom.

Mustangs for life since I was a kid. Got my first 2SS almost a year ago. I guess I felt like a traitor for a minute or two until I realized this car is what I had been looking for, for years...get the Camaro

Take it to the next step, go try a 1LE package. I was originally looking at a GT/ GT350 and I got hooked on the 1LE. My GF told me "you better not get a Camaro." I said lets just go test drive one to see what they have to offer and we both were sold after the test drive and we never looked back. Goodbye Ford.
