The truth about Roto-Fab CAI
For a month off experiments:
Roto-Fab air intake will make the engine runs Rich. Notice that by many things: 1- Carbon buildup on the exhaust tips, Unburned fuel. 2- Much back firing when you release the acceleration pedal. Unburned fuel. 3- ODB II scanning: Fuel terms are much negative like ( - 13 % at (30% to 40%) throttle position, MAF rate 5,3 g/s at Idle ,cats temperature.. By removing the Aluminum bracket besides MAF sensor inside the roto-fab air intake every thing is changing. ## See the videos ## Please; Do your searching on your own. Don’t burn you beauty Camaro. See the videos: Note: I don’t have a video for ODB II (LTFT Nummbers) for Normal Roto-Fab with the Aluminum bracket inside, i did delete it after filming it, because i was very very upset, because i paid 700 $ for the Roto-Fab with shipping and taxes, and i did get very very bad numbers for fuel teams LTFT. it was -11 % and -13 %. Too rech. Every thing change by removing the aluminum bracket from inside it. LTFT now 0 % or 1 % or 2 % on throttle position 30% # It is just because MAF sensor get a little bet lower rating now, i remember it was 5,1 g/s or 5,3 g/s with the stock oem , and now with mooded R-F it’s 4,8 g/s The car runs like a beast now with rot-fab without aluminum bracket inside it. # You can adjust the numbers slightly by turning the filter inside the RF box. Please don’t burn your car if you live in a hot area. I live in cold area, almost all the year it’s under 10C/50F degrees. Goooood luck Sorry for my bad English. https://youtu.be/mtsfss-fn3U https://youtu.be/Wvsd-KyAwUc https://youtu.be/LMyhAj1lG8g Last edited by f.d; 12-04-2019 at 08:05 AM. |

Um question...
Are you even tuned? If not your statements are invalid.

Do you need a tune with just the standard Rotofab dry filter system? Or is just for the big gulp and up? I would agree though if it's hecking with your car that much then you need to do a proper tune with it.

Rotofab advertises no tune for the regular system. Big Gulp, tuning required.

If you know how these computers work, you don’t want positive ltfts.
Also if you don’t have a wideband how do you know what’s really going on?

I can't find a photo which shows this "bracket" within the roto-fab. But it looks like vanes to direct airflow more than a "bracket" for support. Does it sit in front of the MAF? The stock MAF will be calibrated to sit in a certain spot in either laminar or turbulent flow. Any aftermarket setup will either have to match that or you will need a tune to compensate.
I agree with 6spd. I would think the best scenario would have both long and short term trims close to zero. Based on the video and emphasis on lack of exhaust soot, I would be worried about a lean situation with the positive long term fuel trims. |

My understanding is even the GM performance CAI needs to be "retuned" by the dealer?

I would think with that brace removed from inside the Intake tube the engine will burn a lot more fuel! I know when I removed the screen from the MAF on my LS1 1998 Camaro SS it ran like it had 50 more hp but it drank a lot of gas and I had to buy a new MAF due to the car burning so much I was filling it up every 3 days!

Would like to see what rotofab has to say about this and what the purpose is of the bracket in the tube.
