gas over flow at fill up
This has happened to me twice at 2 different pumps. I put the gas nozzle on automatic, so I don't have to hold it, when the tank is full it does not cut off in time and slightly overfills and spills on the paint.
Anyone getting gas overflowing out of the tank at fill up? |

Never happened to me on any of my vehicles.
You came across 2 bad pump nozzles. Just remember which ones not to use. |

It happened a few times, never put the handle on 3 clicks, place it on the 1st notch and once you get over half a tank, take your hand and pump the nozzle ( LOL) slowly. You will be able to fill up with no problem.

It's happened to me twice recently. The last being after I washed it and was literally filling it up to park for the season! I had to boogy home and rewash that area in freezing weather I was pissed. Different stations so I dunno...

Strange it happened at 2 different pumps at a brand new Shell station...
The first time I thought the pump malfunctioned. The second time on a different pump I thought it's the car. |

I don't have an issue with pumps in my area, but I am deathly afraid of overfilling thanks to my last car ('11 CTS-V) that verified once the pump kicks off - it's full. I live by that mantra in the ZL1 now as well. Hopefully it stays that way. Mainly using Sheetz pumps.

I never had this issue, with any of the last 4 camaros I have had. I definitely dont try to top them off either. When the pump kicks off, I am done pumping.

mine did this on my 17 ss several times, on several pumps, at several stations.
It never clicked, I never "added more fuel" it was straight on the first pull to spewing out and down the fender. I learned to make sure the nozzle is in all the way, and I hold up (pointing the nozzle down more) and it never did it again. you do, however, get some false clicks on the faster pumping nozzles. |

I haven’t experienced this with either my current 6th Gen, or my previous 2017... I always put the pump handle on the fastest auto setting, and once she clicks off I hang it up.
I have noticed that some stations pump with more pressure than others. To me it seems like the pumps that take longer to fill my tank are the ones that have a tendency to “overfill”.

I had that happen as well Theseal. How much gas was in it? Usually its the fuel tank breather is clogged or is vacuumed locked. Try bouncing the car a bit when it happens.

This is my 1st DI car, never had any issues before. I wonder if the high pressure fuel system is the culprit for all of these fueling issues?
