ZL1 1LE exhaust options. Help me

I’m in the market for waking up my 18 ZL 1LE with a new exhaust system. Help me pick a system. I do like having the option of the npp, but I honestly don’t find myself using it on the factory setup so not having it on the new system doesn’t seem like a big deal. There are so many options out there & I know exhaust clips really don’t do the sound justice. For those of you that have witnessed multiple ones in person, what are your recommendations. Right now I’m leaning towards the Awe Touring cat back system non resonated with performance link pipes. This is not my daily driver

I too, am looking to upgrade my exhaust. However, I would like to keep my NPP option, since I don't have the suspension settings in the ZLE, I would like to at least keep and use the NPP for sound management. I'm looking at going with the Borla Atak Catback. I had this on my SS and absolutely loved it!

Sounds like a perfect choice of exhaust to me. Get it!

I have the Atak system and it's a beast ! In stealth mode its nice and quite , in track mode its a full blown track animal ! When you pass by another car in track mode have your windows down, the sound waves will bounce off of your car onto there's and back into your car. Then you will know just how loud it is !

Thanks for some more suggestions. The Corsa extreme is another contender, but I still keep leaning towards the Awe.

I have kooks catless 2 inch long tubes with Corsa Extreme plus cat back. Very loud at full tilt and quiet with zero drone on the highway.

I'll be going for the Borla ATAK, just like I had on my 2013 SS

I'm sure you'll be happy with any of the exhausts on the market. My personal ZL1 runs a Corsa Xtreme+ Cat-back and I love it, thunderously loud at WOT, quiet with no drone at cruise. I would not hesitate to install a AWE Non-Resonated Touring w/ PLP's, very similar sounding system. The Borla ATAK system also sounds great, but it's quite over-priced IMO.

I installed American racing headers and x-pipe on my zl1 2 years now and they are just great in terms of quality.
The rear muffler is factory stock
If you ask me about the sound I'll say that I am happy with this setup its not too loud nor quiet and the tone is amazing.

I went with the Borla Stype catback 3" for my zl1. After I added the headers and high flow cats I added the Borla resonator and nice and deep. Still loud at WOT. Just had to fab up the resonator to fit as it is only available in 2.75"

Ahh you caught me slippin, I meant that button is very queer.

Gay would be brightly colored, like your orange car.

I'd edit it, but I'm developmentally delayed(PC) and you quoted it into foreverness.

hahaha
love it!!

anyway gentlemen, I broke down and got the GTHaus
I love!!!!!! it

Here is why
I really like the sounds of the GT350 a lot, much more than the LS/LT motors.. I could never get my C6Z06 to sound good no matter what I did, just loud...
Before I bought the ZL, I figured I'll just learn to live without an incredible sounding engine/exhaust but after I bought this car, it turned out that it wasn't so bad.. after the secondary cat delete it was quite a bit better, and the fuse pull was also in order as the factory exhaust was not too loud when easy on the gas but opened up quite a bit when you get on it..

I did not want to loose the characteristic of factory exhaust and switch to something a lot deeper.. I did not want my ZL to sound like a Dodge Ram with flowmasters or whatever.. I also cannot stand drone! I ve been down that road before with a set of Billy Boats on the Z06... I hated the drone, it was horrific.. cut them out a few days after install and ran straight pipe for a while

ok, back on point... GTHaus NPP is simply amazing!
In loud mode is actually very nice and tame at part throttle but the moment you start to give it revs or 60+% throttle, watch out!!! you get overwhelmed with beautiful bark and an amazing pulse, which is somewhat similar to the gt350 but obviously not the same... a lot more violent if you will.. and guess what, no drone!!!! loud, but good loud... scares people around me when I downshift or get on it quick...

In quite mode (which is on a switch and bypasses the ridiculous factory npp control which) its quite.. and it still sounds good! but yes, a huge difference between the modes... in quite mode you will immediately notice your supercharger whine.. since its on a switch, it does not open under fill throttle unlike all other options which use the factory npp control

tunnel? forget about it! you may just blow a load right in your seat... its nuts...
Anyway I couldn't be happier.. Its expensive but I got a dealer discount with them so it wasnt too bad.. so far one of the best mods

Great choice! Make sure you get all the alignment correct before torquing the clamps to spec. Rotation and lateral positioning of the mufflers will determine the final position of the tips - take your time with this part.
