Another Skip Shift thread

Sorry to throw this out there but I've done several searches and it's had to find which brand of skip shift eleminator will work with my 2019 2SS 1LE. I know I can run it harder, shift into 4th or third and then come back. I intend to run it through the winter and some times you need to shift at low RPM's and you don't want the delay of another shift throw. So if someone has the same car and has installed one that works let me know the brand. Thanks.

This is the one I installed on my 2017 SS with no issues. The same one is listed for 2019, as I'd expect there were no changes between 2016 - 2020 SS M6's.

The one vtirocv posted will work fine I have the same on my 2018. Ignore the "just mat it" crowd that was the best $12 I spent on my car sometimes you just can't rev the hell out of it. When you do install it and it seemed easy you likely installed it on the reverse lock out solenoid instead they are identical plugs. The one you want is on top of the transmission towards the rear a real pia to reach.

If you go to the link and read the reviews you have several Camaro owners stating that it either didn't fit, or caused a CEL.

The very first review says it doesn't fit a 2018 SS 1LE, about two reviews down you have a 2018 1SS owner stating he got a CEL, the next review is a 2015 Camaro owner stating he got a CEL and when he put it on an ohm meter it read no resistance.

Consider starting in 2nd gear when on snow covered roads.

I drive mine in the snow (with Sottozeros) and do well with the traction control and low rpms in 2nd. Occasionally, I need to blast out of my works lot exit that is uphill. Then I turn the traction control off and spin the wheels in 2nd. I never start in 1st on snow cover roads.

Otherwise, my normal driving style is 1st to 3rd if I’m granny shifting.

If you learn to drive a bit differently, you will never get gated.

If driving hard just shift normally by pulling straight back to second. Hard is simply defined as hard accel going about the 3,000 RPM cut off.

If driving sedately, simply pull half way to second, flip to the right in the neutral gate, then pull back left and down.

I've been gated only a few times driving with CAGS.

Or you can spend the $12.

This is the same unit I installed on my 2016 a couple years ago, no issues so far.

I recently installed a skip-shift eliminator on my 2019 Z06, no issues there either. I bought that one from Southern Car Parts.

This is the one I used on my 2018 ZL1 6M...

https://www.phastekperformance.com/2...ip-shift-2.htm

It is a little more money than $12, but worth every penny...

Just do what I do. Go to 1 to 3 when going real slow. Plenty of tq. in 3rd for slow speeds. No reason to even try 2nd if going slow enough to lock you out.

Ditto, I got this one too. Strongly recommended. I installed mine at 2500 miles and wish I had done it sooner. Skip shift is really lame in traffic. It's better to use the gear you want when you want.

CAGS (Computer Assisted Gear Selection) first debuted on the 1990 Corvette ZR1 6 speed. Frankly it’s a godsend because it enables engineers to design and sell a car that would otherwise suffer from the federal gas guzzler tax and still be easily, cheaply, undetectably defeated by the owner. I don’t know how that’s any more of a win-win-win for everyone.

It’s worth the $12 to not have to change your shifting style that you’ve done for 25+ years.

After a few days of ownership, I figured out how to work around the 1-4 lockout by going to 3rd. But for $17 bucks and a quick install, I figured why not make it work like every other manual I've driven for the past 30+ years and never have to think about it again.

I got mine from RPI, no issues though it's only been a few weeks.

they all work, just get one and install it. You won't regret it. Skip shift sucks

Best $20 bucks I've spent. The skip shift really annoys me when it kicks in. Hated it on my vette and just as annoying on the Camaro. Unfortunately its a little hard to plug in with the Camaro unless you have a lift. I was lucky to have my dealer install it at no charge. BTW my gas mileage improved with it installed.
