I like these guys' track videos. The ZL1 1LE was only 0.46 seconds faster around that track than the SS 1LE (with Cup 2 tires). Wish they would have run the ZLE vs. a GT350R. The R would probably do really well on that track since there are very little straights for the ZLE to pull away from it on.
Redeye was almost a second slower than a A10 GT PP1 without Magneride. Wish they ran a PP1 w/ Magneride. The MR makes a big difference in the GT.

Part of the problem with the ZLE's time was driver control vs. the car's setup and that rough track. I'm surprised Tom didn't have a concussion after his hot laps with all of the headrest bounce. The Z's Recaro seats are not really flexible, so that track has got to be really, really rough. He admitted he struggled to get the most from the ZLE in the corners, bouncing around inside the cabin, breaking loose and delaying trackout multiple times. A snug 5-pt harness and possibly even a one-piece racing seat would have helped a lot there. The SS1LE's magnetic ride clearly a huge difference there at keeping the sticky cup2 tires in contact with the tarmac and not giving the driver a case of shaken-baby syndrome. Too bad their June review of the ZL1 didn't get it on that track, like the SS1LE its magnetic ride might allow it outperform the ZLE on that rough track. The "compliant" 350 chassis would indeed be better on that track if its back end can stay stable through the bouncy bits. So there we have it for their next track battle: GT350 vs. ZL1 coupe ![]() |

Come on guys, the Redeye got 5 seconds from the manual 1LE anyhow, isn't that enough for you?

Turned out as expected. One car nearly anyone can hit similar #’s and the other takes more skill with only 1 hand on the wheel while you locate the proper gear and work the go pedal accordingly. I like the red eye but no manual availability even if slower is a major major turnoff for me. No on a ZL1 and base GT350 comparison. The regular ZL1 will still best the GT350R in most areas. The real out the door prices on these cars and the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE make them that much better compared to the comp. I do think Dodge does colors better then any other manufacturer out there.

I would have thought the Dodge would have been farther ahead in the drag race, an A10 would have beaten it.
